Got this a month ago for Mora 6 ” hand auger. A little pricey but worth it. Used a couple times now with an old craftsman 19. 2 V cordless drill. Drilled a dozen holes thru 10 ” ice no problem. Bought it cause I liked the handle for grip and won ’ t lose it down the hole if it comes loose from the drill( read many reviews on other adapters where that happened). A heck of a lot lighter than pulling around my big gas auger, too.

Iceman!
I used a Milwaukee M18 drill and it would bore a hole just as fast as a gas one, maybe even faster with its instant torque. And it's super light which I really like.

When selecting a fast ice auger, consider the power source, blade design, and overall weight. Electric augers are often lighter and quieter, while gas-powered models may offer more power for larger holes. Additionally, look for features like adjustable speed settings and ergonomic handles for better control and comfort during use.
Fast ice augers come in various types, including manual, electric, and gas-powered models. Each type has its advantages, with electric augers being popular for their ease of use and low maintenance, while gas-powered options are favored for their power and speed. Manual augers are typically more affordable and lightweight, making them suitable for casual anglers.
The blade material is crucial for the performance of a fast ice auger, as it determines cutting efficiency and durability. High-carbon steel blades are common for their sharpness and longevity, while stainless steel blades resist rust and corrosion. Additionally, the design and sharpness of the blades can significantly impact how quickly and easily the auger cuts through ice.
Yes, fast ice augers are designed to handle various ice thicknesses, but the effectiveness may vary based on the auger's power and blade design. For thinner ice, a smaller diameter auger may be sufficient, while thicker ice may require a more powerful auger with larger blades. It's essential to choose an auger that matches the typical ice conditions in your fishing area.
Maintaining a fast ice auger involves regular checks on the blades, power source, and overall condition of the unit. Ensure blades are sharp and free of damage, and clean any ice or debris after use. For electric models, check battery health, while gas models require fuel maintenance and occasional spark plug checks to ensure optimal performance.
