The sole is very lightweight. I do n't regularly need wide shoes, but shoes with a narrow toe box do not fit me well- and these have plenty of room! I can wear them with regular or wool socks. I 'd been looking for a classic hiking boot to wear with jeans and loved the mens moc style but I never pulled the trigger because they were a bit bulky for my narrow feet, and had a very flat sole. I wear an 8. 5 with a typical arch. Trying these on for the first time was like wearing little pillows on my feet. They have more arch support than the mens style. I wear them with a thicker camp sock and they are perfect, I did not have to go up a 1/2 size. Very quality boot and I love supporting American made local companies.

I first got sized in men boots and I was in between size 7. 5 and size 8. In women's that would mean I 'm in between size 9 and 9. 5. Size 9 in women's fit me a little bit to tight because I have wide feet. So, I went for the size 9. 5 and it was the perfect fit for my wide feet and just comfortable to were I can wear thick socks comfortably. The boots are a tiny bit loose in length, but as long as I tie them correctly and tight enough my heel does n't slip off the boots as I 'm walking. It's now been about a solid month with my boots and wear them quite often. Since day 1 I never needed a `` breaking in '' period. These Moc Toes 3375 are so comfy right from the get go. I even wore them out of the store and went to school all day in them right away! If you 're someone with wide feet, consider sizing up. Yes, they will be a bit loose in length, but tie the boots correctly and tight enough and they will mold to your feet so well!!

I bought factory 2nds from a buddy and I could n't tell you the difference between those and the 1st. A little cleaning and conditioning and it looked brand spanking new. I got these in a 7D. For some odd reason, they fit very similar to my pair of Beckmans which are a 7. 5D. Both are a touch loose at the toes. Maybe I 'm a 6. 5 in Redwings. No problem though, I threw in a pair of insoles for my Iron Rangers and they fit like a glove now. If you have a store near you, I highly suggest going in person to get sized. The first thing you notice when you unbox your boots it the strong smell of real quality leather. I was immediately in the mood for a good Maduro cigar and a glass of my favorite Islay whisky. Following that, you peel back the paper and see the true color of these boots in your chosen color. I picked copper rough and tough. The photos do not truly demonstrate it's color but, there are some hints of the color in the photos. It has a richness and variation of color that is amazing in person. Since most stores do not stock these, it is a bit of a leap of faith but, it is well worth it. I had to size them down one half of a size. They do not come in a wide width at this time and I measure for a wide shoe but, already on the second day, they were loosened up enough that I have no trouble now. I would recommend wearing them around the house one day with two pairs of socks on. You 'll be surprised how quickly they break in if you do n't mind doing that for a day. Based on the described construction of the boot, when you receive the box, you may be surprised that it does n't weight several more pounds. It's not a very heavy boot even with the extra stitching and quality leather. Wearing it around the house and then later out on the street, it will continue to break in and loosen up. The break in is not bad at all. I would compare the break in to any other quality leather dress shoe that is American made. I felt an improvement in just a day and it will get better everyday for two weeks. The shape and style of the boot are clean and simple yet rugged. I believe this could easily sneak into a business casual realm if needed, especially on colder inclement days. The oil resistant soles have good traction on most surfaces so far. I have another pair of boots with deeper heavier tread for working around the house so, this pair probably wont see as much winter time work. They did get puked on by the kid last night and after that I walked through some mud right after getting out of the truck. It all seemed to wipe off and reminded me to invest in the protectant. I 'll be ordering that soon. If you buy cheap boots that are n't real leather, crack, fall apart or generally wear out every year or two, I would advise you to take a trip to the store, make the investment now and after you break in your new boots, you can decide for yourself.

As the other reviews seem to agree the laces seem a little short and I did n't go a size down as I 've pretty wide feet. This means they 're maybe a touch long but great on the width.

I had never bought a `` casual '' pair of boots before especially taken a leap of faith since they cost much more than I wanted to spend, but after about 2 years of wearing these for work/play/casual in all types of weather every other day, if not everyday, the comfort alone has been more than worth it. I was originally looking at the Clara, but after seeing the more narrow toe box, I went with the Iron Rangers and I am so in love. I wore them straight out of the box for a week in West Texas, and the only breaking in that affected me was the shaft and one spot on the inside of my heel on the left foot. I came home, cleaned them well with saddle soap, oiled them with neatsfoot oil, and that( in combination with the initial break- in) made them the most comfortable boots I 've ever worn. [ Like everything danner makes it is great leather. I rock a 13 wide in sneakers and got a 12 wide for this boot. It fit snug at first especially around the top arch of the foot. After about two weeks of breakin they are comfortable but tight enough to provide appropriate traction. I think after a couple months of molding they will be on the top for comfortability.

Come to find out my wife and mother in law sold that pair in a yard sale..:( Waited things out and they came on sale at Dick's for just under$ 285. Pulled the trigger for another pair of 8 EE's and just could not be more pleased. This time, bought the new Danner DXT Comfort Insoles( direct for Danner), and they made the best hiking boot, even better. Yeah, They are a lot of money, but they are well worth every penny. With the Mountain light IIs, 1/2 size down is the right fit for me with the EE wide fit. And, Dick's had the boots at our front door in two days!!!

This is my 1st pair of these boots. Bought these boots back in 2013 and they are outstanding! They have held up to the wear and tear and are still as waterproof and as comfortable as the day I first bought them. I apply mink oil on them occasionally. I plan on buying a second pair soon. Not to replace the ones I have now, I will use the new pair as dress boots.

After having my last pair of Rocky boots for almost 8 years( while wearing daily), I just purchased this pair to replace. I really like that they are a workboot but have the western style. I 've been buying these boots to wear for my landscaping business for as long as I can remember.( over 15 years?) They are comfortable after a day of brake in. I apply one coat of weather seal when I buy them. I wear them over 12 hours a day and they last about 6 to 8 months. I like that they are n't steel toes, and that the tread on the sole does n't disturb the soil very much, but has good traction. I like to buy two at a time so I can alternate wearing them. I have bought them for my helpers too.

The question you should ask yourself is why you shouldn ’ t buy the Bull Run. The price comes in well under classic red wing and Chippewa boots and these are way more comfortable in my humble opinion. The sizing is fairly true to size with medium to thicker socks but I ’ d dize down 1/2 if wearing thin socks. I ’ m very stoked on these boots!

Break in is brutal because the leather is tough and stiff but that is what you need for work boots. Carry some band aids for blisters your first week.
