Great bag. Good quality. Works well. I use it for kayaking and everything in it stays dry. Only complaint is that for the amount of money you pay, the seams could be cut and put together a lot cleaner. Mine has been 100% waterproof I would just like a little more eye appeal since it's very expensive. Worth the money otherwise. Overall, I am happy with my purchase.

[ This backpack is fantastic. The design takes a lot of pressure/weight off of your back, even when carrying a lot of weight. I was skeptical that a woman- specific design would make any difference, but it really does. It has plenty of storage, clever features, and looks very stylish. The only con is that it ca n't fit very large or bulky items because the design is very structured, but it is perfect for anyone commuting or walking a lot.

This pack is the perfect trail companion! I 've gotten to take it out both XC skiing and on some winter hikes and it's the perfect size for an extra layer, snacks, first aid kit, and any other gear you might need on the trail. I love the magnet strip on the water bladder that nicely holds the bladder straw in space when not using it, and easy to drink out of while on the trail. The pockets are well thought out and easily accessible. I do wish the side water bottle pockets were a little larger to fit my nalgene, but definitely not a dealbreaker since it has the integrated bladder.

As a smaller sized gal, I 've struggled with daypacks feeling too big and bulky. The 18L was my goldilocks and is such a great size for a casual hike or wandering around town! There are not a lot of pockets, but I actually prefer a simple pack. My favorite part of the pack is the chest and hip straps that make the bag easily adjustable.

[ I got this pack for longer day hikes, and specifically for an upcoming trip. Have n't used it for said trip yet, but have used it on local hikes to get a good feel for it and it checks all my boxes. It's uncomplicated( just one main compartment with some exterior storage) and I love the padded hipbelt. Also like the fact that there's compatibility for a water bladder. The side pockets stretch enough to accommodate the large nalgene, and there's a small zipper compartment at top for keys, wallet, etc.

I hiked across Spain for 500 miles over 35 days carrying this pack. I had NO issues and it was so comfortable. I carried about 13- 15 lbs with a water bladder. Only wish the water bladder nozzle had a cover as every time I set the pack down my nozzle touched the ground- good for my immune system! I just feel so grateful for my pack. One of your sales people on the phone recommended it after I tried several other models and sizes. Could n't be happier. One of the zippers broke before my trip but it was n't key. I will call regarding this. Otherwise- highly recommend this pack. So light, so comfy, so kind to my body after a long haul. Thank you.

This is my first day pack with internal frame. It makes it very comfortable to wear, balancing the weight down onto my hips( even unbelted and even wearing it on one shoulder) and the frame with mesh back keeps my back cooler even in 93 degree humid weather. The pockets are n't ideal. The top front pocket is very small( and if you put a heavy phone there it is unbalanced). The internal( water or laptop) pocket is deep- so anything small put in there is lost to posterity( beware). The water bottle pockets on the side fit a smaller water bottle easily but tougher with anything larger. I used it as a carry on( personal item) and no complaints from the flight attendants about how it fit under the seat in front of me, though the top did stick out a little and I found it to be a bit in the way of stretching my lets. It fit a ton of stuff- I had an umbrella and rain jacket, wallet, cosmetic size bag with electronic cables and earbuds, cosmetic bag with actual cosmetics, book, magazine, two journals, an airport shopping bag( small), and small cosmetic bag with meds in there. There is a helpful clip to attach your neck pillow! It also has a rain cover in a pouch at the bottom that was very useful in a downpour, if a little hard to extract and put in place on the fly.

I ’ ve been using this backpack for a while now and I have to say, one of its great features is the smart design that balances comfort and functionality. The padded shoulder straps make it really comfortable to carry, even when it ’s fully loaded. I also love the multiple compartments — it ’s easy to keep everything organized, from my laptop to small accessories. The material feels durable and water- resistant, so I don ’ t have to worry about sudden rain. Overall, it ’s a stylish, practical, and reliable backpack that works perfectly for both daily use and travel.

I bought this item a few months back for my girlfriend. She loved the light purple color I chose as well as how comfortable it was. So far she has enjoyed it on multiple day hikes and loves how simple the organization is as well as the support while loaded up with layers, lunch, first aid kit, etc. She especially loved the ability to add her trekking poles to her pack while not in use and overall is happy with her Osprey Hikelite pack.

[ The Ariel Plus 85 backpack was a game changer for me. I 'm not a `` professional '' backpacker, so packing everything but the `` kitchen sink '' was a desire. Although I wound up not packing that too, I did manage to get everything I needed, and more, into this pack for a 3 night solo trip. An ultralight tent and a 4. 7 '' high sleeping pad were carried on the outside of the pack, while my mummy- style sleeping bag was in the sleeping bag compartment at the bottom of the bag. Other necessary items took up the rest of the space, with room to spare. Not only was there plenty of room in this bag, but it was incredibly comfortable. I 'm humpbacked, so not many backpacks are comfortable for me. With the adjustable torso feature, I was able to get a truly dialed- in fit and was able to hike without discomfort.
5
mariam7726
[ I bought this about a month ago and have done two backpacking trips, it is one of the best backpacks I 've owned so far. Osprey really has outdone themselves, especially with the front opening compartment. Easy access for everything and fits so many things in it as well. Easy to clean and the straps do n't hurt as bad as other brands.
5
Aura
Osprey really outdid themselves with this one, thinking of every little detail for organization and packing this pack. Additionally, the suspension is great and carrying over 40% of my body weight, I felt the weight, but not the pack! I like my comfort and I do not like to be cold and I carry food for my dogs, while they carry the water, therefore, I need all of this space. The only detail that osprey does on all of their packs is that sleeping bag divider is not fully removable, just `` '' disconnect- able '' '' so you still have to carry the divider around with you adding weight and it does get in my way. I have never used it since it prevents me from stuffing every solitary nook and cranny of the bag. Also, when the bag is stuffed, I have never been able to successfully open and then re- close the bottom zipper anyway. Same with the side zippers Osprey has on most of its packs. HOWEVER, they surely did get it right with the front zippers on this pack! You can open the entire front and then re- close it even when fully stuffed! Wonderful!!! Also, the side pockets, unlike other Osprey models, really can be used and things added and taken out even when the pack is fully stuffed. I love the front organization pockets and keep things that I need handy like GPS and maps, etc in one and repellent and netting, or if it is a cold, snowy backpack, gloves and hat, in the other.

Finally a large woman's specific pack! Thank you Osprey! I have been using men's or unisex packs my whole life until last year. What a difference specificity makes! This pack is so incredibly comfortable you do n't really know you have it on. I am certain I will be able to travel more distance without fatigue with this pack. Six pounds for the M/L may seem like a heavier pack, but the infrastructure and material is worth it. This pack will be my only pack for multi day trips! Thank you.

Ellie
I adore this pack. My mom bought the Ariel 85L for me a few years ago( 2021) for my first guiding job, and it has been my companion ever since. The pockets make it easy for me to stay organized and access a variety of gear while on the trail, and the brain turns into a little day pack. The only negative on the day pack feature is that the straps secure with plastic toggles through loops rather than buckles, so they come out when you are n't wearing the pack. This pack is super durable. I have sat on it, accidently thrown it in a beaver pond, checked it at the airport, and much more, and it has n't ripped or shown much wear yet( knock on wood of course). The water bottle pockets have a holster feature, so you can access your bottles without help and fit notebooks, maps, or fuel bottles in the top part of the pocket. I am a notorious over packer, and I can always fit everything I need and still hike comfortably with this pack. If you like ultra light this might not be your pack, but if you want to hike for a long time while staying organized and comfortable this is a great pack.

I had been waiting to update my climbing day pack but nothing fitted my requirements until the Speed 40 came along. I wanted something big enough for ice climbing in the Canadian Rockies and short backpacking trips, yet be adjustable enough for small loads. It had to accommodate ice tools easily. It needed to be hardy enough for climbing and scrambling on granite( the downfall of my last pack). This is an extremely versatile pack, in the short time I 've had it I 've used it for ice climbing, backpacking in Patagonia and snow- kiting. I love it!

I love my Beta Light 30 backpack!! The top opens up nice and wide so I can see what I ’ ve packed readily. The XS size fits me like a glove and it is so roomy yet very light weight. I have t yet tested the waterproof quality, but I have little doubt that it will hold up to the elements as proclaimed by other happy customers. I absolutely love Black Diamond products! High quality and dependable.

GR
I have n't used this pack but it looks great, with excellent materials, pockets and overall construction. It also seems to tick most boxes for ultra runners who may be doing multi- day events requiring a lot of mandatory gear. Some runners may question the design choice of having only one side of the vest strap capable of carrying a 500ml soft flask. Perhaps this is the preferred option for fastpacking but having capacity for two soft flasks in addition to two zippered pockets on either side like the BD Distance 15 pack would be ideal, at least for ultra runners.

Jean-Luc B.
As an ultralight Backpacker, I leave my honest review here. First, I have to say that I was excited when I got this backpack; the fabrics and the implementation are outstanding excellent job Black Diamond. The fast backpack idea with those extra shoulder straps makes this backpack ideal. Not only is this one waterproof or almost, but it is merely one of the best backpacks I ever owned. Believe it or not, I have tried several UL backpacks in my career. The only downside I see is that the shoulder pocket with the zipper is too tiny to hold a standard- sized cell phone comfortably. If I had a bigger one, I could guarantee it would never fit inside.

I needed a mid- size bag for a full day of multi- pitch climbing, crag hopping, and lots of hiking in between. Priorities were lightweight, supportive, wearable while climbing, and water bladder compatibility. This bag fits the bill on all of those and is built to comfortably accommodate a harness while being to easily access gear. Where it missed the mark for me was that it's built for a male body. I tried as many adjustments as much as possible but as a 5' 4 '' '' female I could n't get the right fit. I hope osprey recognizes an untapped market and creates female versions of these technical bags some day, like they do for hiking bags!

The Large size Betalight45 fits me very well. The shoulder straps are comfortable with a loaded pack and the hip belt sits properly to take some weight. I 'm 6' 3 '', 180lbs, my torso is 21. 5- 22 '' according to BD instructions. I measured the actual volume of the main bag to be 46L and still able to roll closed. [ This is one of THE BEST backpackers for beginners and advanced backpackers alike. 50L is the perfect size for 1- 3 night trips. I also used my aura ag lt 50 pack for traveling through Thailand for 3 weeks, it was the perfect size for my essentials and never let me down. This pack is super comfortable

This pack can carry loads for longer trails. I appreciate the firm hipbelts. They do not slip and allow you to adjust your pack properly. I would like to see more access to main compartment, but it is similar to thru hiking packs by design.

I love that it's foldable and you can stuff it full or just have a few things in it. ... On my way home with groceries I can unroll it and wo n't have to worry about stuffing everything into my handle bar

I ’ ve had a Kanken backpack for YEARS that I love especially for just running errands around town, but I ’ ve been finding it a bit small for when I ’ m out hiking or on day trips. I knew I wanted a roll top bag so that I could have the option of more space, and I ’ m so so happy with this bag. Especially bc of the zipper closure which provides extra security when the bag is filled to the brim. The bag is lightweight, material is easy to clean, and is very comfortable to wear even when packed full!

I was looking for a new pack that had more volume than my current hiking day pack that could also function as a bag for errands and other outings. I love that it's foldable and you can stuff it full or just have a few things in it. So far it has accompanied me to the farmer's market, grocery store, and the park, is incredibly comfortable and secure when riding my bike. I ca n't wait to get more use out of it.

I purchased my foldsack because I have a High Coast 18 that I absolutely adore but needed a rest. When I saw this pack for the first time, I knew I had to have it! The first thing that I gravitated towards was the zipper closure combined with the fold over hook. Which was a great feature because I use my pack for just about everything so this comes in handy if I fill my pack to the brim and need extra security. It is waterproof and Eco friendly... game changer! I am 5' 2 so I thought it would look huge on my back but it looks similar to my 18L. I am in love with all the color options but I chose Rowan Red which is close to a deep orange. I 'll still take my High Coast 18 on treks but this High Coast Foldsack 24 is riding shotgun from now on.

Super light and very packable backpack. I originally purchased this as my gym bag but it wasn ’ t large enough for all of my clothes so now its my flight carry on bag and Ive found it to work really well for carrying for long periods of time.

[ Took it with me as far north as 8° from the NorthPole. It ’s a quality product and was a wise purchase for my needs.

[ It is waterproof and kept everything within dry during frequent rainstorms- even during a brief immersion. Suspension is comfortable for ordinary use, although it may not be adequate for multi- day treks. I do wish it had a water bottle holder. And the outside waterproof pocket is small and hard to use.

I really like having the ability to remove the lid and strip the pack down. ... The size is perfect for a night or two climbing the Grand Teton or used as a day

After 5 days of using this pack in Wyoming for backpacking and multi- pitch climbing, I 'm stoked on how this pack worked out! The backpack handled loads of 30 pounds without trouble, and stripped down for climbing with ease. It's just the perfect shape for carrying gear in my eyes. The frame sheet is a clear step forward from previous packs in low weight and sturdy construction. I also really liked the interior zip pocket and the fabric that shed rain and hail without issue. If I could change one thing, I would lower the chest strap, because it still sits a little high. Overall, crushed it BD!

[ Love the pack, but the cargo space is limited. Enough to maybe carry a top layer, but not much else. Still exactly what I was looking for for a MTB pack.

I love the interior zippered sections. ... Versatile travel backpack ... Easy to access ... And after I packed it out, with room to spare I realized I still had the laptop area to use and it totally works as a catch all for like your hoodie or what have

This bag is great for traveling. It has everything you need. I love how the inside has zipper compartments like suitcases. The colored zippers are great for knowing which zippers are for what! Awesome bag. I recommend!

Used as carry- on for international travel. Easily squeezed between roller boards. Love that it opens like a suitcase and the straps can tuck in so if i choose to check it on the way back, the strap wo n't get stuck in the machinery.

Love this backpack. The color is amazing, and i use it for 3- 4 day work trips. I fly for work and this fits under the seat, even in economy. I also have the 42L pack, and it was too big for the trips under a week.

This bag has replaced my roller bag for trips under a week. Stylish and functional.
A backpack with a removable waist belt offers enhanced comfort and support, especially during long hikes or heavy loads. The waist belt helps distribute weight more evenly across your body, reducing strain on your shoulders and back. Additionally, the ability to remove the waist belt allows for versatility, making the backpack suitable for various activities, from casual day trips to more intense outdoor adventures.
Backpacks with removable waist belts are ideal for a range of activities, including hiking, backpacking, and traveling. They provide added stability and comfort during strenuous activities, making them great for long treks or carrying heavier loads. The versatility of these backpacks also makes them suitable for everyday use, allowing users to customize their carrying experience based on the activity.
The design of a removable waist belt enhances a backpack's functionality by allowing users to adjust their load distribution based on their needs. When attached, the waist belt stabilizes the pack, making it easier to navigate uneven terrain. When removed, the backpack can be lighter and more streamlined for activities that require less support, providing flexibility for different scenarios.
Backpacks with removable waist belts are typically made from durable, lightweight materials such as nylon or polyester, which offer resistance to wear and tear. Many also feature water-resistant coatings to protect contents from moisture. The waist belts themselves may include padded sections for comfort and are often adjustable to fit various body types.
When choosing a backpack with a removable waist belt, look for features such as adjustable straps, multiple compartments for organization, and breathable back panels for comfort. Additionally, consider the weight capacity and the ease of removing the waist belt, as well as any additional features like hydration reservoirs or attachment points for gear. These elements can greatly enhance the overall usability of the backpack.
