[ I bought this( and a black one, L/R) for TRT/Search and Rescue. I got tired of using( fighting?) Purcell's for ascending a line. These are lightweight and I really do n't notice them on my already- overloaded rack. The mechanicals are solid and smooth, and they grab 10- 11mm rope just fine, slide up with ease, and do n't seem to cause undue wear. The size of the lower mounting hole gives me plenty of options for attaching foot loops, 2nd points of attachment to my harness, etc.

Fantastic rope and durability. I buy new rope every year and this one has not disappointed. I went with the larger 9. 8 vs 9. 5 and it ’s great for Trad days and normal wear and tear. If you are heavy and belayer a lighter individual just need to ensure they are really good with catches. The 9. 8 has a little less elasticity than the smaller ropes and could create harder catches. But no issues with good belayers knowing how to catch. Rope has stayed cleaner then other classic crag ropes and doesn ’ t seem to collect dirt as easily. Overall would recommend.

[ Finally got to use this over the weekend and as I am somewhat new to climbing and very new to cleaning gear, this is my first PAS and it worked very well for me and made the job easy. [ Purchased to bridge the gap between the 120cm and 240cm slings, it's a fast favorite of mine for a lightweight, strong, and redundant quad setup. Material is a little slicker out of the back than Metolius Open Sling or Mammut Contact, but looking forward getting some wear on it. Wider than those as well but not too wide, still good for untying after weighting, even with overhands. For hanging belays, it's just the right distance from the wall in my opinion with a clove or a PA. Nice on ice too! Have n't found anything to gripe about with it yet, other than that I would n't want to lose it in the snow.

My daughter “ stole ” my rack and almost all my gear, and with it my pink padded gear sling from the bygone 80 ’s, punk, and Lycra days. Prefer trad pieces on a sling so I can move it around and scrum my hips in chimneys, corners, and wide cracks. This sling is just like the old one, highly adjustable, padded, and comfy. Wow, you would think there is only so much you could say about a nylon runner sewn to a piece of foam but let me tell you BD has totally hit it out of the park with this one. 2023 is the year we bring back the padded sling, so beat the hype and get that gear off your harness before your friends. [ I have not been on a hangboard in years. I ’ m following the Trango app for beginner exercises, this gives me so much more direction and focus. [ This is a good low profile( particularly top to bottom length) alternative to the Rock Prodigy Training center if you are looking for a good hangboard and have limited space( i. e., just a doorway and no dedicated space in an rental apartment). While it does n't have as many holds as the Training Center, it has more than enough to be of benefit regardless of your ability- I currently max out at V9- V10 outdoors and I get a good workout on the board( I can see the holds being difficult at body weight if you are just starting out, but that's where you set up a pulley system and take weight off; if you climb harder you do the same but go one handed). It does have features that the Training Center does n't quite have( crimps). If you are not accustomed to the Training Center, let me just say that these are not your typical hangboards. The two piece design is one of those extremely simple, but extraordinarily useful innovations( more usable holds, more comfort- you are trying to minimize injuries to your shoulders). Further, the holds are well designed- they went out of their way to make them comfortable and non- tweaky. A lot of thought seems to have gone into designing a hangboard that allows you to build finger strength while minimizing pain and injury.

I bought this after training on the rock prodigy training center( RPTC) at a friends garage. The pockets on the RPTC never felt quite right. The large pockets were too large and would pull on my skin and the smalls were too difficult without taking off a good deal of weight with the pulleys. The drafted pockets feel way better on the forge. They are slightly angled downward so there is no gap created by the first joint. The variable depth rail is also smaller compared the the RPTC. The thumb catch on the crimp is fantastic and keeps you from putting too much pressure on the index. The texture is a bit finer and more comfortable than the original. Altogether, this board is more difficult than the original. I would say if you are pulling in the v6 range and want a great hangboard then look no further. The Anderson bros market this board as complimentary to the original suggesting you buy both. However, I see no need for this after trying out both boards. The forge is more difficult, but much more ergonomic. Hangboarding should get you stronger, not build your pain tolerance.
