My gym's DBs max- out at only 125 pounds each, so I bring these little guys in my Training Bag and put up to 8 45- pound Olympic Plates on each to do Extremely Heavy Bent 1- Armed DB Rows at 360 pounds. There are different types of Curl Bars. Some are solid steel, which ultimately add to the weight that you are lifting. Other bars, are hollow, for the purpose of making them lighter, but the drawback is that they are not as strong. Next, companies say `` Standard '' or `` Olympic ''. Be careful here. True Olympic bars are 2 inches thick and solid. Standard, could range, depending on the company, but they are usually 1 inch thick and can be both hollow or solid. Just because it may say `` with Olympic style collars '' does n't mean the bar is Olympic in the sense of solid AND 2 inches thick. For beginners, you may not want a solid bar. Or if you have cancer or another illness and you are trying to get back to lifting, then a hollow bar would probably serve you better. Lastly, if you are just starting but expect to make gains quickly, then opt for a solid stronger bar that will not limit the amount of weight it can hold.

This is one of the best weight bar you can get for maximum performance. I used one of these in my early 20s and I weighed 170 pounds at 5/7 inches tall and I got to the point that I could lift 300 pounds off the floor and over my head with ease. I am now 48 and have started lifting again and after two weeks I can see huge difference in my biceps and triceps. I weigh 205 now but plan on cutting weight and I should be able to get back to the 29 inch waist I had in my 20s with the right exercise and nutrition. I promise you that if you get one of these bars and concentrate on your body and picture it in your mind how you want it to look you will achieve your goals. I really enjoy lifting with this bar.

I 've not tried the smaller collar over standard bars, but at least it's an option. Personally, I feel the price for this particular item was a bit high. From my research it was comparable to commercial bars of greater thickness and weight capacity. However, this was readily available and in stock from Dick's, so that became the selling point for me. I would recommend the bar to others, but I would suggest to see if it goes on sale or if a coupon becomes available before purchasing at full price.

I had the top of the line Rogue Ceracote curl bar for 4 years& did n't like it for several reasons. It was too long with absurdly long sleeves. Too heavy with a starting weight of 30lbs. The color was a matte black which just looked dull especially after dirt/skin build up in the knurling. Also the ridiculous long sleeves were made of zinc which turns an ugly faded dull look even if you never use the bar. Plus the Rogue bar costs about$ 325. Finally I didnt like the bend of the Rogue. It was extreme in the middle grip which made the narrow& wide grip unbearable. The Nike curl bar fixed ALL the things I did n't like about to Rogue version. It has a gloss black finish over the matte black. The beloved Nike swoosh wins over the over hyped/priced `` Rogue '' logo. The length is about 8 '' shorter making it much more accessible/ manueverable in a garage gym setting or any gym for that matter. The bend is better so now I regularly use all 3 hand positions. The price was better at$ 200 even vs$ 325. The sleeves are the perfect size& made of a sleek metal that I highly doubt will show ANY signs of aging/use. The weight is 22lbs vs 30lb so you have a lower starting weight& can always add but you could n't subtract w/ the heavy Rogue. Only thing Rogue did better was the 28. 5mm diameter. I can feel the difference in Nike's smaller 28mm bar& would prefer 29mm or even 30mm if I could customize it. I rate the bar 10/10! The rest of Nike's gym equipment appears high quality& esthetically pleasing but its also way overpriced. The Nike curl bar is the only things I saw that gives you real value for the price point. NIKE 'S neoprene Kettlebells are cool looking but overpriced& the handles are rough like rocks. 👎🏾 The non neoprene versions have much smoother/ preferred handles.

I am amazed with the quality of this barbell. I will list some of the reasons why this is my favorite barbell that I have ever used. The bar has very nice rotation on the sleeves. There is a perfect amount of knurling( not to passive and not to aggressive). The chrome finish and black coating also feely extremely well made. I find it very nice that the bar also includes a set of clamps. The packaging was also very well constructed. The barbell came in perfect condition which other companies can not do as well. This barbell is by far the best option out there and especially for your money.

I picked these up at the Bellevue, WA store. I was surprised by the price compared to others I 'd seen online. But I picked up a pair and I 'm glad I did. After I unboxed these I found the quality was very high. The clips that come with this are very heavy duty and high quality. When I went back to Amazon and looked up anything approaching the quality of these dumbbell bars it was more expensive there when I added in two sets of very high quality clips. These weigh in at 9. 9 lbs( probably 10 on a better scale).

These dumbbell bars are great. These are standard size( 1 inch bars), and they work with any standard 1 inch hole plates. Two reviewers tried to use olympic plates, which have a larger hole.

I purchased the standard 14 inch threaded dumbbell handles. The chrome is very nice with no chipping or excess. The threaded collars move very smoothly and do not catch like some of the other cheaper threaded dumbbell's I tried. I really like that the chrome handles that are thicker in the middle- it is very comfortable for my hands.( I wear an men's XL glove.) Compared to similar sets from Amazon that come with 40 pounds of weight for$ 40- 50 it will end up costing$ 60 for the same amount of weight. Even though this set is a bit more expensive I believe its worth it since I was able to buy and try locally- plus I think the quality of the handles and the finish of the weights are well worth the extra money spent.( The 1 '' hub dumbbell weights fit perfectly- not sure why other reviewers were complaining.)

The clamps that come with them are n't great and do n't stay in place but any Olympic clamp will work! Body Solid makes good products at a reasonable price and their customer service is great! Great combo bar to eliminate the need for multiple short bars!

This curl bar is identical to the one I used at the gym. Well made, sturdy, and the perfect weight for me. When my husband finally decides to join me, I will add the disk weights that fit on them. I bought this bar online through the store having gone there to make the purchase but it was n't a stocked item. Packed securely and shipped quickly, it arrived within a couple of days in perfect condition. It's well made and just what I needed. Two issues- one, as another reviewer commented, the bar comes with what I assume is an anti- rust coating that's a little messy to remove. It would be nice if some instructions came for that. Maybe there were and I just did n't see them. And two- the clerk who took the order told me my email address would be used only to communicate regarding the order. Now a day does n't pass without multiple emails from Dick's and they drive me nuts. I 've gone through the unsubscribe process twice to no avail.
