Setting up a kayak to fish can be challenging. Small spaces, things need to be multi functional. Yak Attack gear is on the cutting edge of what is available for your Yak. It however will take a few outting to dial in your rig. Theses rod holder hold all types of rod reel combos, I use them for fly rods. There is a lot of room within the holder, it would be nice if things were tighter, but rods are are not falling off the Yak even if the boat is flipped over. The Yak tracks Are the best in the business. and their anchor setup is the only way to go. Dicks needs to carry the full line of products in all stores.

Overall, a great way to store your canoe on your vehicle's cross bars. Felt like the price was about triple for what you actually get in terms of plastic braces, 2 straps, and screws. However, it's a well- built product that should last. Have used it twice thus far for our canoe... have a good hang of it now... could probably reinstall/take- down in 10 minutes tops.

I placed this on a 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited with factory crossbars. These worked great for holding a 16 foot canoe. Never moved and protected the vehicle. I would give it five stars if there was a way to lock the mounts to the car( None of the other canoe carrier companies had locks either. ie thule, Yakima) It would be nice if you did not have to undo all the screws each time you removed the mount from the car, but not a big deal. I would recommend this and I would buy it again.

Plus install is easier now that you have a something to grip onto from the inside! Rope is plenty long and strong for any Yak/Canoe. The cord has minimal stretch, keep loose for initial install while cord get comfy, then tighten one time after, and you are good to go. As Always, YakAttack made a great product even better!.

I Bought these racks for a 10 Hour trip to North Carolina. these things are absolutely rock steady. The steel Straps that attach to your cross bars do n't slip a millimeter during transit. also the strap guide on the top bar of these racks are great so you can set the strap and fold it up without having to climb up on the car to do so. Very pricey as far as kayak racks go but worth every penny in piece of mind.

We own a 2016 two door Jeep Wrangler Sport and was looking for a way to carry two Kayaks on top. A Thule representative was very helpful. My setup is the Thule Rapid Gutter Foot Pack, Thule WingBar Evo 150 and Thule Compass carrier. I also purchased four `` hood loops '', under the hood and rear door, to secure the kayak stern and bow with additional straps. We drove 125 miles to a local river and it handled great. Coming home we towed the Jeep with kayaks behind our Winnebago motorhome and again absolutely no issues. So far we love these products! As a canoeist/kayaker for 47 years, I 've tied/racked/trucked a lot of boats. I can recommend the quality of the Malone racks... study frames, reliable attachment system to the car/van, good padding to avoid damage to the boats, good sturdy straps for securing the racks& boats. However, I have been using 2 sets of the Malone J- Racks which can stay attached to the vehicle but can be folded down when not in active use. Getting the racks folded or back into place is very easy and I think can make setting the straps before racking the boat a tad easier than a stationary rack. I like the idea of calling less attention to the fact I have the racks on at all, also cuts down on wind resistence and noise. For a few dollars more, you should shop around for a deal on the Malone fold- down racks.

This is a great little paddle holder. It is much smaller than I expected, a good thing, and it really hold the paddle shaft firmly. I have it mounted near the front of my kayak which allows me to rest one blade in the tank well and clip the shaft of the paddle in to this holder. A very effective design.

Kit worked well. I changed the mount from inside the trailer to outside( who wants to lose space in the trailer bed?) by getting some additional u- bolts and L- brackets to replace the bottom mounting plates. I did have to replace the bolts used to attach the tie down points, as the wrench needed to tighten them would not reach inside the cross bar.$ 2. 50 worth of slightly smaller bolts, nuts and washers fixed the issue. I still need to cut off the excess bolt threads, but it is going to work great for carrying kayaks while still allowing the trailer to be used for hauling other items.

I stack two kayaks on each other and pull them up together. I 'm probably getting close to the max weight that way but it works for my situation. Hardware is sturdy. Rope seems soft but has n't worn out after a few years use. Just something I keep an eye on. Works well. I did use a bigger drill bit than instructed to drill the pilot holes for the screws, and used socket rather than a wrench to make it easier on myself. The whole installation was about 20 minutes. Once installed, placing my kayaks in the cradles took about 10 minutes. The straps to hang the second kayak did not ratchet as easily as I would have liked, and I suggest using your own straps, having help to take weight off the straps while you ratchet them up, or using something under the kayak to hold it up while you tighten the straps. Either way, once they kayak is up and the straps tightened the kayaks are secure and the system is great! I also liked having the ability to store my paddles on the rack.

For a while now, I 've had one DockGrip and one( competitor) J cradle to transport two boats. I 've always preferred the DockGrip, and finally ponied up for a second. This transports a somewhat heavy boat, but it's always felt secure, loaded easily, and been a breeze to take off and put on each season. I 've never worried about the boat on the DockGrip like I have the one on the J. Additionally, Thule includes a pretty high quality and comprehensive tie down kit. I 'd not only recommend this to a friend, I recommended it to myself... and bought a second.

My partner and I recently bought two kayaks from Dick ’s and needed to transport them over 100 miles through several mountain passes on a windy day. On a whim, we bought this kit and we are so glad we did. In the parking lot of the Dick ’s, we were able to install the kit on the crossbars of her Subaru Outback within 30 minutes and did not need a single tool for assembly!
