This Old Town 106 power by Minnkota is a game changer. I would compare this to more of a one- man boat as it is so incredibly stable, comfortable and easy to use. Fishing capability and storage organization is so well thought of. It truly provides a hands free fishing experience. Battery life has been great as I can be out for 8+ hours trolling around and still have juice to spare. This is running with a normal Group 27 DC lead acid battery which is also powering my fish finder. The only suggestion for improvement would be to provide an auxiliary power connection for those that wish to run both the trolling motor and fish finder off the same battery. I had to splice in my own auxiliary power connection off the 12V main lead. Other than that this kayak has met my needs right out of the box and I would say is worth every penny. I have had it for 2 months now and every time I use it still brings a smile to my face!

Setting up a kayak to fish can be challenging. Small spaces, things need to be multi functional. Yak Attack gear is on the cutting edge of what is available for your Yak. It however will take a few outting to dial in your rig. Theses rod holder hold all types of rod reel combos, I use them for fly rods. There is a lot of room within the holder, it would be nice if things were tighter, but rods are are not falling off the Yak even if the boat is flipped over. The Yak tracks Are the best in the business. and their anchor setup is the only way to go. Dicks needs to carry the full line of products in all stores.

Overall, a great way to store your canoe on your vehicle's cross bars. Felt like the price was about triple for what you actually get in terms of plastic braces, 2 straps, and screws. However, it's a well- built product that should last. Have used it twice thus far for our canoe... have a good hang of it now... could probably reinstall/take- down in 10 minutes tops.

I placed this on a 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited with factory crossbars. These worked great for holding a 16 foot canoe. Never moved and protected the vehicle. I would give it five stars if there was a way to lock the mounts to the car( None of the other canoe carrier companies had locks either. ie thule, Yakima) It would be nice if you did not have to undo all the screws each time you removed the mount from the car, but not a big deal. The steel Straps that attach to your cross bars do n't slip a millimeter during transit. also the strap guide on the top bar of these racks are great so you can set the strap and fold it up without having to climb up on the car to do so. Kit worked well. I changed the mount from inside the trailer to outside( who wants to lose space in the trailer bed?) by getting some additional u- bolts and L- brackets to replace the bottom mounting plates. I did have to replace the bolts used to attach the tie down points, as the wrench needed to tighten them would not reach inside the cross bar.$ 2. 50 worth of slightly smaller bolts, nuts and washers fixed the issue. I still need to cut off the excess bolt threads, but it is going to work great for carrying kayaks while still allowing the trailer to be used for hauling other items.

I stack two kayaks on each other and pull them up together. I 'm probably getting close to the max weight that way but it works for my situation. Hardware is sturdy. Rope seems soft but has n't worn out after a few years use. Just something I keep an eye on. Works well. After all this time I expect the hardware to continue to be robust and the rope is doing better than expected. Installed on a Wilderness Pungo 120 using You Tube directions. The written directions were confusing. Using You Tube, installation was a piece of cake. I 've only used the set up twice. Each trip it worked great. The second trip was windy with 10- 13 mph. winds. Anchored with the wind at my back so I was able to cast left, right and front. Glad I had the set up, otherwise the trip would have been a bust. Fishing would have been impossible.

I am very happy with my purchase of the Malone J- dock Kayak& Gear storage rack. Installation was easy. I did use a bigger drill bit than instructed to drill the pilot holes for the screws, and used socket rather than a wrench to make it easier on myself. The whole installation was about 20 minutes. Once installed, placing my kayaks in the cradles took about 10 minutes. The straps to hang the second kayak did not ratchet as easily as I would have liked, and I suggest using your own straps, having help to take weight off the straps while you ratchet them up, or using something under the kayak to hold it up while you tighten the straps. Either way, once they kayak is up and the straps tightened the kayaks are secure and the system is great! I also liked having the ability to store my paddles on the rack.

For a while now, I 've had one DockGrip and one( competitor) J cradle to transport two boats. I 've always preferred the DockGrip, and finally ponied up for a second. This transports a somewhat heavy boat, but it's always felt secure, loaded easily, and been a breeze to take off and put on each season. I 've never worried about the boat on the DockGrip like I have the one on the J. Additionally, Thule includes a pretty high quality and comprehensive tie down kit. Carried two 10ft kayaks 900miles on top of my van, often at 70mph, they rode great. Did have to tighten the straps after the first 50mi or so, I think the kayaks shifted in some way, then was good to go. Even when the straps were not completely snug the kayaks seemed secure on the rack. Tip, if the blue safety strap makes a wind noise, you might try a half twist in the strap as it spans the tops and bottoms of the kayaks. I did, and the whole assembly rode with no noticeable noise.

Looked on- line for a good kayak rack to transport two recently purchased kayaks at Dick's. The reviews per positive for the Malone Stax Pro2 Kayak Rack. I got a good deal ordering it on- line at Dick's with free shipping. My son and I mounted the rack and it worked well. It took about 30 minutes to figure out how to assemble and install the rack. After the initial install it was easy to use. Could install it in my sleep, once I had experience with the initial install. The rack did a good job transporting to a nearby reservoir. However, on the return trip there was a vibration/hum from the equipment on the roof of the vehicle. Maybe it is the angle/positioning of the kayaks on the return trip that caused this noise. A lady pulling a kayak on a carrier kept looking our way, and she asked where I got the rack, and wanted to know how I liked it. She never seen one like it and was interested in the performance, which I gave it a thumbs up:)

My partner and I recently bought two kayaks from Dick ’s and needed to transport them over 100 miles through several mountain passes on a windy day. Overall I do recommend this item. Because I ride a recumbent trike and use a trailer for my kayak, I want to transport both. The shorter tongue on the kayak trailer does not fit well under my recumbent trike carrier. Mine is a different situation than most; therefore, I do recommend this. My Old Town Autopilot 136 in gray Ghost Limited Edition arrived yesterday. Was wrapped nicely in heavy gauge plastic to protect it. After unwrapping and looking it over I found the Kayak to be of very thick and well- built materials. It is a heavy craft but the quality is amazing. Customer service was very easy to deal with and quite helpful getting me the answers I needed. Very spacious kayak and lots of room for everything I want to add. Cons- I wish they gave an option for aluminum rails to replace the plastic ones. Though the plastic ones are strong I just like heavy duty for fish finders etc. I also wish they would list the model number of the included trolling motor to make it easier for looking up spare or backup parts. Would I recommend this kayak to friends? without a doubt.
