I bought the Mag Heavy to use it as a jig/frog/punching rod. BUT it has now replaced my existing med and medhvy rods. The sensitivity is significantly better than I expected. It actually does throw that wide of a range and does it well.

Bought the mag heavy because it fell in a sweet spot with the 1 1/2 oz max lure weight. It feels right with that, at least, but all I 've done is handle it so far yet to fish it. However I had fished a fury for years and this is comparable, minus the cork handle which was n't great on the fury anyway. I looked at a lot of sizes of this rod. I like the guides, at least on the casting rod, and the rod is balanced and light. Has good specs for it's class as far as I 'm concerned and I buy a lot of rods in this price range. I was surprised the tip had the type of flex it did, it feels right. I had n't heard much called mag heavy, but I 'm mostly a medium to medium heavy fisherman so I ca n't compare except to salt.
