I began eyeing these boots( along with a few other pairs of Danners) when I really got into hiking this past year, but was hesitant to purchase as I 've seen a million reviews( on literally every hiking boot ever made) that talks about the break- in requirement and resulting blisters, foot pain, lost toenails and the likes. I committed to a winter hiking hut trip this past month and knew that I needed something waterproof and after window shopping( literally every boot tailored for women who love the great outdoors) kept coming back to these. After weeks of considering my options, I decided to take the plunge on these. I received my order about 10 days before the hut trip. The first day I trying them on they felt great, but the second day( when I intended to start wearing them every minute of every day to break them in pre- trip) I noticed that they felt quite roomy, despite having ordered exactly as the size chart indicated. I immediately began looking for a half size smaller and low and behold, they were sold out everywhere. Despite my immediate panic, with lack of better options I ended up committing to the size ordered paired with a thick pair of wool socks for the trip( 6. 5ish miles each way, 2kish in elevation gain on the way up). I am delighted to report that despite feeling a bit roomy when I tried them on, the wool socks made the fit perfect. The trip up proved to be the most foot- comfy hike I 've ever had! My feet stayed entirely warm, which has never happened without Hot Hands in my socks in winter hikes for me. Beyond that, the boots were completely submerged in snow due to post- holing multiple times throughout the weekend, but my feet stayed 100% dry the entire trip. These paired well with my Kahtoola microspikes and Orvis snowshoes. All in all I 'm completely impressed and can not wait to hike more in these boots. If you have gear anxiety and are on the fence about ordering these( like I was), I highly encourage you to get off the fence and order! My initial impression is that this is the best boot purchase I could 've made.

I just bought these boots yesterday and am already compelled to write a review! I have been eyeing these babies for a while but the price was the hitch. I walked into my local shoe store the other day and found them on the shelf!!! I fell in love. These shoes are impeccably made and fit like a glove. They are so cute, make my foot look small( huge plus) and are so so so comfortable. I am so happy to have these and hope that Red Wing keeps making women's boots. I absolutely love these boots. I sized down a size. Typically I am a 9. 5 in flat shoes and I purchased the 8. 5. Out of the box they were uncomfortably snug volume/width- wise but I had enough room lengthwise. After about two weeks of everyday wear and a few day- long rides, they fit perfectly. They feel like they stretch to about a full size larger on volume after they are broken in. The leather is super high- quality, stitching is flawless, and I view these as a purchase to last at least a decade.

My boots only took a couple days to arrive. I was a little bummed I could n't get the mens version of this boots( since it stops at a mens size 7). But very pleased to say I could n't be happier with the womens! Just arrived so they are stiff, and I have n't seen the wair in process yet, but I 'm really excited to get them worn! I was originally looking at the Clara, but after seeing the more narrow toe box, I went with the Iron Rangers and I am so in love. I wore them straight out of the box for a week in West Texas, and the only breaking in that affected me was the shaft and one spot on the inside of my heel on the left foot. I came home, cleaned them well with saddle soap, oiled them with neatsfoot oil, and that( in combination with the initial break- in) made them the most comfortable boots I 've ever worn. I never, ever want to take them off!! They 're beautiful, classic, and a perfect fit. I 'm so happy. I typically wear an 8. 5 or 9 and bought a 9. They were snug in the store except for the length, and they stretched and molded for a perfect fit.

Exactly what level of comfort technology were you anticipating? `` Traction in the snow ''? You DID look at these before purchasing; correct? I 'm having my doubts that that happened. Love my Rangers. As a tool maker, I 'm on my feet at least 8 hours a day. Once I lace up my boots they do n't come off for about 12 hrs. I could n't be happier with them!

I bought factory 2nds from a buddy and I could n't tell you the difference between those and the 1st. A little cleaning and conditioning and it looked brand spanking new. I got these in a 7D. For some odd reason, they fit very similar to my pair of Beckmans which are a 7. 5D. Both are a touch loose at the toes. Maybe I 'm a 6. 5 in Redwings. No problem though, I threw in a pair of insoles for my Iron Rangers and they fit like a glove now. If you have a store near you, I highly suggest going in person to get sized. The leather is of fantastic quality. Great overall look and feel. I highly recommend this iconic boot! My next purchase are the Roughnecks.

These are my 2nd pair of Iron Rangers, but the 1st pair with the lug sole. The lug soles improve shock absorption and also reduce noise walking the halls at work. Fit is as expected. I wear 13 in my running shoes and 12 in my Red Wings.
