It was extremely hot and humid( sweat rolling down the legs and into my shoes), but the socks prevented hotspots and blisters. In previous winters I run with targeted cushion mid crew run socks. I did n't even know this cold weather sock existed until last week when I ordered it. I did n't expect it to actually make a difference but it totally DID! The initial cold top of my foot did n't happen. The occasional cold toes did n't happen. I swear these are n't any thicker than my other Smartwool Targeted Cushion Run socks but somehow they are warmer! My only wish is that they came mid- crew size instead of full crew since I have wide calves and these pinch a tad. I never would have bought a full crew sock if it was n't the only option, and this is probably why I never noticed the product before. In the last two days with my new socks I ran a 15k and a 5k in 40F weather. The lowest I tend to run in is 30F but I do n't look forward to that temp. With these socks I will look forward to the next cold day because I ca n't wait to find out if my feet stay warm at that temp, too.

[ There is a little cushion in these socks that makes them extra comfy. I wear a 12- 12. 5 in most shoe brands and bought these socks in size XL. The fit is great overall, maybe a tiny bit large but nothing to complain about as the XL is intended to cover a range of foot sizes. For comparison I wear an XL in Darn Tough as well and they fit fine if maybe a touch small. I would definitely buy smartwool socks again in the future. They seem like they are holding up nicely.
