I ’ m up to 3 of these now, 2 spinning and 1 casting and they ’ re my clear favorites across Fitzgerald, Shimano teramar xx, and a few other random brands of rods I own. I find the action is on the faster side with the Medium/Fast version of these rods, which is perfect for my preferences. Love the full cork grip as well. I have read about some issues with these, but I personally haven ’ t had any. I ’ m about 50 trips into the avid inshore I ’ ve had the longest.

This is a very nice set. I 'm comparing this to my Or is Clearwater and it's holding up well. The rod is similar in characteristics. It feels a little less sensitive but acceptable. The finish is matte and really nice looking. The price shows in small details. The pieces are not marked for fit and the openings are not sealed. Neither point is really an issue. The cork handle seems a bit soft and maybe a tad lower quality than the orvis. I think this could become an issue over time and extended use. The reel seems fine. Not as smooth as my orvis either but overall very close. Very happy with it. The weak point in my opinion is the line. While I 'm no expert, it does n't feel quite as good. It's definitely functional but does n't have an end loop for easy threading of the leader. That also makes it a bit rough to thread through the rod sometimes. Anyway, of course there's a reason for the price but at that price I recommend this set. On our first outing, my son caught 5(!) Really nice trout vs my 2 on the Orvis. Obviously that's more due to the flies he was using and his skills:-) but it shows that this set works well. All the other bells and whistles are not necessary needed. It may come down to durability in the end.

I bought this rod and reel combo about two weeks ago, as an upgrade to my PENN Fierce IV Surf Combos for my shark surf fishing setup. Caught 3 big bat rays and a 5 ft long leopard shark on the combo with ease. Reel is insanely powerful, and by far one of the best reels you can get out there in the “ middle to expensive ” price range for PENN spinning reels. Rod is a little stiff, but it performs very well for the price of the combo and it held up well against the might of the leopard shark and bat rays with relative ease.

I love this rod for a rod under a 100 bucks in the 70 dollar range. Its got great action been throwing med size crankbait. Great square bill rod good action have n't cought any monsters but lot's of 1 to 2 and half pound bass. Very acrute when throwing. I got some higher end set ups. But got this pared with a abu garcia black max reel with 10 pound florocarbon line. I got a 150 in reel rod and line and I pick it up as much as my 350 to 450 dollar set ups and will hang with them.

I finally had enough money to spend on a st croix rod. I 've always wanted one, but was hesitant. I bought the Mojo Yak rod and I 'm very pleased with it. I bought the medium action, but it definitely feels like a heavy action rod. Very good quality components.

I ’ m a St croix guy and this rod is TOUGH! The mojo series is light weight and durable. Very sensitive and comfortable to hold. The 7 ” medium is a great rod for plastics and wacky rigs. A great all purpose rod in my opinion. The split grip helps with casting while keeping it short and low profile for kayak guys.( I like it for the weight reduction). 10/10 rod. Will continue to add more mojo to my collection.

5
Eric71
This rod has amazing accuracy when casting from a kayak. It's able to cast baits throughout its weight range a respectable distance. I 've had next to no backslashes while casting 1/4 ounce lures in breezy conditions. Without tightening up the reel. Low profile reels sit well in the reel seat for palming them. Gives the rod a sleek design. The rod is light and balanced. I have experienced very little fatigue fishing with it for 6 hours. Very sensitive feedback with jigs and crankbaits. First catch was an 18inch bass. This is an amazing and versatile rod for kayak fishing.

When selecting a fishing rod for snook, consider the rod's length, power, and action. A longer rod can help with casting distance, while medium to medium-heavy power is often ideal for handling snook's strength. Additionally, a fast action rod allows for better sensitivity and quicker hook sets, which are crucial when targeting these fish.
Fishing rods for snook are typically made from materials like graphite and fiberglass. Graphite rods are lightweight and offer excellent sensitivity, making them a popular choice for experienced anglers. Fiberglass rods, on the other hand, tend to be more durable and flexible, which can be beneficial for fighting strong fish like snook.
The ideal rod length for snook fishing generally ranges from 7 to 8 feet. A longer rod can provide better casting distance and leverage when reeling in larger fish. However, the length can also depend on the fishing environment, such as whether you are fishing from a boat or the shore.
For snook fishing, a fast action rod is often recommended. Fast action rods bend primarily at the tip, providing increased sensitivity and quicker response times when setting the hook. This is particularly important when snook are feeding aggressively and require a swift reaction from the angler.
Yes, features such as a comfortable grip, quality guides, and a lightweight design can significantly enhance snook fishing performance. A comfortable grip helps reduce fatigue during long fishing sessions, while high-quality guides minimize line friction and improve casting distance. Additionally, a lightweight rod allows for better maneuverability and control.
Techniques such as casting live bait, using jigs, or employing topwater lures are effective when using a rod for snook. Each technique may require different rod characteristics, such as sensitivity for detecting bites or strength for battling larger fish. Understanding the specific conditions and behaviors of snook can help you choose the right technique and rod combination.
