I use a Penn 309MCP reel and works for catfishing. Most of the catfish I catch does n't need this heavy of a setup, but I have had a few get away due to size.

This rod is like a dream guy it ’s sensitive yet strong. Pretty and tough. Nice you you and mean to the catfish this sucker right here will sling your bait to the other side of the Atlantic like you are Posidon or something.

I just got mine in the mail today and did not expect to be comparing it to my St Croix musky Rods but it is very comparable. I love the extended handle, which is a rare, but useful feature. The oversized heavy duty glass eyes will allow smooth casting of heavy line, good backbone, and charchuse for night anglers. Not just a rod for soaking stink baits.

Got this in the mail and boy I was so surprised on how big and heavy duty this rod was. I will take it to the beach for sure. Got it for cat fishing.

Just bought this today, and even though there was no tag or barcode, we were able to find it on the register. It said on the tag, spinning rod, yet it works perfectly with a conventional reel. I was casting it across my yard( 100ish feet). My friend,

Frequently Asked Questions For Glass Fishing Rods

Glass fishing rods are known for their durability and flexibility, making them ideal for various fishing techniques. They provide excellent sensitivity, allowing anglers to feel even the slightest bites. Additionally, their ability to withstand heavy loads makes them suitable for catching larger fish.

Glass fishing rods are typically heavier and more flexible than graphite rods, which are lighter and stiffer. This flexibility in glass rods can enhance casting distance and provide a more forgiving action when fighting fish. However, graphite rods often offer better sensitivity and responsiveness for certain fishing styles.

Glass fishing rods are particularly well-suited for techniques such as cranking, trolling, and fishing for larger species like salmon and steelhead. Their forgiving action makes them ideal for situations where a softer touch is needed, particularly when using treble hooks or when targeting species that require a gentle approach.

Yes, glass fishing rods can be a great choice for beginners due to their forgiving nature and durability. They are less likely to break under stress, which can help new anglers build confidence while learning to fish. Additionally, their moderate action can make it easier to learn proper casting techniques.

When selecting a glass fishing rod, consider factors such as the rod's length, action, and power rating to match your fishing style and target species. Also, think about the type of reel you plan to use and ensure compatibility. Lastly, assess the rod's construction quality and materials for durability and performance.
