The 36oz version is huge, but it keeps the contents cold whilst in direct sunlight and is a good quantity of water for us, for about four hours on the water. The magnetic aspect is ok for calm rivers and estuarys, but a mild bit of swell/surf the huge size of the 36oz would be knocked off. Smaller versions would probably be ok. That said, as rivers and estuary exploring are our thing, the 36oz are perfect for us.

[ Just be aware that it is not spill proof when the drinking lid is used. The 'cold' and 'hot' lids are liquid tight and will keep cold things cold and hot things hot. Also a can of beer or soda will also fit so you can keep a drink cold and crack it open on the hike out. Fit and finish is high like all Snow Peak products.

[ Bought this because I love Snow Peak. Love that this product is made in Japan( not all of their products are). Nice and lightweight. But that could be a negative in terms of durability which I worry about- the walls are thin, you can see them move when you squeeze it. The lid tends to make a weird squeak/squeal/screech when screwing on and off unless you take your time and do it slowly. I ’ ve never had a bottle do that before. The thin walls make it slightly uncomfortable to drink from without a lid( almost sharp but I wouldn ’ t go that far)( although full disclosure, the directions say not to drink from it without a lid because you might spill on yourself!). Cool that you can fit a can in there. Diameter is 2& 15/16ths inches so it might not fit smaller cup holders. Note the drinking lid isn ’ t spillproof but it doesn ’ t claim to be. Not the best thermos out there but decent. Similar to others in terms of heat retention- just fine.
