I was looking for a really low profile knee pad for street skateboarding( mostly at concrete and wood skateparks with a street layout). These things are amazing. Very low profile( they fit right under your pants or shirt) and they really take the sting out of a fall. The best thing is that you do n't even notice you have them on( they do n't restrict mobility at all). I took a knee right to the pavement at one point in a way that would have taken me out of commission for a few days in the past and I did n't feel a thing.( I was a little sore the next day, but as I said the kind of fall I had would normally have been a much more serious injury). For the usual bumps and falls, these things really do the job( especially when the board knocks your knees or you fall on an elbow doing a trick). A word of advice for McDavid: I think there is a really big untapped market for you guys in skateboarding.

This is my second pair mainly because I wanted the ability to swap them out depending on whether I was wearing light or dark socks. They do the job of holding the guards in place nicely and I prefer this style over the style that has the piece that goes under your feet. That part can make stuffing your foot into a soccer boot quite cramped so I prefer these much much more.

These things saved my knees more than a few times this week during figure skating camp. In one incident I tried to avoid a skater who tried to avoid me by going the same direction. I went down on my knees full force with her in my arms without feeling a thing and was able to keep her back and head off the ice at the same time. on another occasion I went down on my knees after catching my toe pick on a corner, bounced, and slid the rest of the way on my butt. Hightly recommended for figure skaters.
