I ’ ve always been a bit of a flashlight guy. As a kid I cost my dad a small fortune in D cells running down his baseball bat sized Maglite. I ’ ve been through more headlamps than I can count over the years. I picked up this particular one a few months ago and I have to say it has been by far the best headlamp I ’ ve ever had. The door fuel capability comes in handy, and the functions on this light are super useful and navigable. It ’s great to having the brightness memory as well as the powertap feature to be able to instantly switch to max and back. One feature that stands out is the way each mode dims/brightens. I haven ’ t seen that on a light before. It also seems a lot brighter than 450 lumens at max. If you ’ re looking for a good reliable headlamp I truly don ’ t think in any way you could go wrong with these. Hope this helps

I ordered one of these lights to test put up at our cabin when sitting on the deck under a patio umbrella. This little light puts out just enough light to be fun and eliminate the need for a regular full light that would attract bugs easier. My only wish is that you could order a longer one. I am going to order 2 more because I am putting this on the edge of the patio umbrella and 1 only does about a 1/3 of it at the edge. 2 more will offer a bit more light as well. The others at the cabin also liked it and one plans to order a few for their rv. I enjoy this little light and am glad I bought it.

Perfect little safety device. I do wish that there were directions, as they are not intuitive to use. Press and hold the power button for 5- 8 seconds to turn on, and same to turn off. Most folks will simply assume tat their new light is defective instead of pressing and holding the button down for 8 seconds. Set it on flash and it is easy visible in the dark from a quarter mile away. Put one on the strap of your running cap, and clips second one onto the front of your collar, and your protected coming and going.

Having used many headlamps over the years—including the original Black Diamond Icon and all its upgrades—I can confidently say the Black Diamond Distant Headlamp stands out as a top- tier option. It ’s brighter and more versatile than most, with adjustable lighting modes and easy dimming to conserve battery life. The rugged, weatherproof design feels well- made, and I ’ m hoping the headband holds up better than previous models, where the straps failed too quickly. It ’s definitely on the expensive side, and the extra battery I purchased wasn ’ t cheap either. Good all around headlamp in terms of weight/brightness balance. Favorite feature is that the continuous brightness adjustment is remembered when powered off/on, so I do n't have to keep readjusting it. Button is large and easy enough to use to handle with glove or mitten on, and headlamp worked fine in near zero( F) temps.

Happy with my purchase. Unit is not as long as I thought it was. Checked to make sure before purchasing as I have a very long wheelbase e- bike. Would have liked to see tire guides a little higher to prevent the front wheel twisting once it is strapped down. Problem solved by making sure the front wheel axle doesn ’ t protrude past the end of the guide rails. Once you realize there is an order to strapping your bike down the unit works well and holds the bike in a very stable position. I really like the locks on the upright top tube clamps as it makes it extremely difficult for someone to remove the bike from the rack and you don ’ t have to fiddle with pulling out cable locks. Like that the top tube clamps are telescopic; much superior to the Easy Fold rack, with fixed clamps that made carrying two bikes a massive headache. Also really like the lights and license plate position, although it does take a little while to realize your vehicle is a couple of feet longer than it was. No more tickets for having a covered license plate. Bikes are easy to load and rack carries two heavy e- bikes in a stable manner. Recommended.

I like the wheels that allow you to roll the carrier from my garage to the vehicle. The tail lights and license plate holder address safety concerns since my old rack blocked the vehicle tail lights and license plate. It would be nice if Thule developed a bike cover that allowed me to cover my e- bikes without blocking the racks tail lights and license plate.
