[ These socks are super comfortable and amazingly durable for how soft they are. I will never buy another brand of hiking socks again. Worth EVERY penny!

[ Based on online reviews and those of our Grand Canyon Rim- to- Rim tour leader, I purchased two pair of these Darn Tough hiker socks. They were awesome in the Canyon heat and the continual uphill and downhill trekking we did for two days straight. I plan to use these high- performing, moisture- wicking socks for more hiking in the national parks, as well as winter sport activities.

5 Lulabeast
[ My favorite, go- to wool socks. They 're not scratchy, have a tight weave, and provide good cushioning for hiking without being overly bulky. Also great for general winter wear!

5 crosswordfan
[ The cushioning in these were great! Kept my feet warm and blister- free throughout a day- long hike down into the Grand Canyon in the winter. I also love the hiker boot sock height compared to the crew socks because they stay up/in place even after a long day of hiking.

5 JZast
Extremely satisfied with my order. Shipped out next day, everything was as described and price was unbelievable!

Smartwool socks are not inexpensive but they are worth every penny. I like how the toe seam is unobtrusive. No more damaged toenails like I used to get with lesser quality socks. Plus Smartwool socks are durable, they do not wear out quickly. Smartwool is the only brand I wear when outside and active.

Smartwool socks are the go to sock for everyday life. Indoor and outdoor activities are handled well by the socks I have. Thanks for a great product

5 Wesley W.
I just love getting stuff from Smart wool. All their stuff is so high- quality. Everything is made to last. And keeps me warm or cool depending on what it ’s supposed to do.

A long time ago time ago I was guided to Smartwool socks by my physician. There are probably 60+ pair in my sock drawer(s) from low ankle to winter hikers. Just got a new pair of ankle socks and they still feel fantastic when I slip them on. I have to give credit to Smartwool for carrying on the tradition of quality and service for 30+ years and providing such great options for discriminating customers. Keep up the good work!

I have always been a fan of the Smartwool Hiking Socks, but when summer comes along I often store them with my winter clothes. The new merino wool blend ankle socks have become my go to favorite socks for warmer weather hiking, golf and fishing. Unlike cotton ankle socks, If you encounter changing weather forecasts it's no problem because the merino wool keeps your feet feeling cozy and comfortable all the time.

I 've been using wool socks almost exclusively for over a decade now. I 've experimented with a lot of different brands and even some yak and camel wool socks. For my money, Smartwool seems to be the winner and these targeted cushion crew socks specifically are the best I 've ever used in hotter weather. I like the lifetime warranty of a couple of other brands, but they are more restricting in the toes and my feet feel more damp in them. These just feel soft and non restrictive. I use barefoot style shoes for about everything and the natural foot shape allowing the toes to splay is great, but only if your socks allow your toes to do it too. These allow for that and are much easier to put on than toe socks. They also seem reasonably durable. I 'll be buying more!

The cushion on these is excellent. and the fit is true to size. I like the style and way they hold up.

Frequently Asked Questions For Medium Weight Hiking Socks

Medium weight hiking socks are designed to provide a balance of cushioning and breathability, making them suitable for a variety of hiking conditions. Unlike lightweight socks, they offer more padding for comfort during longer hikes, while still being less bulky than heavy weight options. This makes them ideal for moderate to challenging trails where both support and moisture management are important.

Medium weight hiking socks are typically made from a blend of materials such as merino wool, nylon, and spandex. Merino wool is favored for its moisture-wicking properties and temperature regulation, while nylon adds durability and strength. The inclusion of spandex provides a snug fit, ensuring that the socks stay in place during hikes.

When selecting medium weight hiking socks, look for features such as cushioning in the heel and toe areas for added comfort, arch support for stability, and moisture-wicking properties to keep your feet dry. Additionally, consider socks with reinforced seams and a seamless toe design to reduce the risk of blisters during long hikes.

Yes, medium weight hiking socks can be suitable for various seasons, particularly spring and fall when temperatures can fluctuate. They provide enough insulation for cooler weather while still allowing breathability in warmer conditions. However, for extremely hot weather, lightweight socks may be more comfortable, and for winter hikes, heavier socks may be necessary.

Choosing the right size of medium weight hiking socks is crucial for comfort and performance. It's important to refer to the sizing chart provided by the manufacturer, as sizes can vary. Ensure that the socks fit snugly without being too tight, allowing for some stretch while avoiding excess material that could cause bunching or blisters.
