Never got the point of these tops until I tried one. Excellent outdoors no matter the weather. Does two jobs, wicking sweat to keep you more comfortable and on cooler days also acts as a second layer. Must be the way the air is `` trapped '' within the holes in the mesh. But they are great on the turbo too, if like me, yours is in the unheated garage. Put a loose top on until you get warmed up. Once that 's off, this mesh top is brilliant. Really recommend them.

This short sleeved base layer is the best one I have ever owned. It is very stretchy and close fitting- almost like a compression vest, which takes a bit of getting used to but once out on the road it is extremely comfortable and very warm. The fishnet structure really works to keep you warm- providing you trap your body heat in the holes by keeping the wind out, so I found it works great even in winter if you wear a windproof or waterproof top. I double up by wearing a gilet under my waterproof top. The sizing is difficult to recommend because on a coat hanger it looks like your little sister ’s vest but is stretches almost double in size. Luckily it does this because with a S/M size I must be at the maximum limit! The other good thing is that the sleeves are long and clinging so arm warmers grip to it really well and don ’ t creep down, as happens with all my other under vests. If you have a bit of a belly I recommend using the L/XL. The model is wearing S/M- well I am 5 ’ 10 ” and 77kg and S/M has me trussed up like the guy from Erasure- ha, at least my wife thinks I look good in it so a win;-)

You don ’ t realize how much you need a heated base layer until you have one! It ’s been such a benefit to various aspects of my life. I wear it beneath my layers when spending time outdoors during winter in Wisconsin. But I ’ ve also worn it to work( in an office) during especially cold days. It fits true to size and is comfy. Reviewing this from the POV of an end user& tech fabric geek. Love the materials of the MH AirMesh. Already have the hoody; just bought the crew. Agree w/ those who say it 's very warm when at standstill or w/ a wind layer over top, yet while moving or with wind and no wind layer it 's like being naked. To me that says the fabric is functioning precisely how a base layer shoulder. Only con is hypothetical: delicate fabric. I 've had no issues with snags, pilling, abrasion, etc. But I would n't be surprised were I to, given the softness of the fibers and the openness of the fabric they 're arranged into. Cut/fit are unremarkable w/ exception of the somewhat high neck hole and the different accent fabric used there. Packs tiny, resilient fibers bounce back into shape immediately. Most comparable to the Patagonia Cap Air wool base layer, minus the itchiness/roughness and the ultra premium price point. Also, like Polartec Power Stretch pro, but much lighter and more airy fabric, fwiw.

In the first image, it is very light and breathable, but the fibers inside seem to be easily lost, and there are some fibers in the hand after a little scratch. I am 167cm tall and my bust is 98cm, so I wear a size M which is very comfortable. I bought 2 at the same time, for me it should be good for sweating a lot without losing warmth. I tried wearing it the other way around and it was a different feeling, like a normal sweatshirt. A very special piece of clothing, worth trying. [ Merino is THE stuff for active comfort in the cold. The key is staying dry between rain, snow, and sweat... it 's challenging. 100%( 95 and 88 also good) merino helps to achieve this goal. It 's warm when you need it to be and water( all types) evaporates quickly to keep you from getting chilled from damp clothing. It 's got to be part of a system though, and you have to use that system properly or you will get damp and cold. We just came back from five nights in our tent@ an avg. of 26F at night. After hiking all day in these and then, putting on fresh Smartwool tops and bottoms we were warm all night( we could have stayed in the same set if we had to). Medium weight is probably fine for most applications, but do be sure you 've got the right system for the conditions. In summer and spring it 's less critical, but in winter( THE best time IMO)... having the wrong gear can make for a miserable experience... and a dangerous one. Smartwool has the added benefit of being able to go in the dryer at home... not all merino products can. That 's my take.

This shirt is fantastic. It ’s basically just a much needed upgrade version of the 1/2 zip elements. What I mean by that is the material is soft and comfortable and stretchy. The shirt also has a mesh ’s area running on the bottom of the arm that goes along the whole sleeve which is nice to help with cooling off. Also it seems to be lighter than the elements which helps it be a better choice to wear on warmer days. Hope these stick around and get more colors. I definitely recommend these especially if you were a fan of the 1/2 zip elements.

The fit is snug without being restrictive, and it gives great support to my upper body, especially the core and shoulders. It wicks sweat really well and stays light even during intense sessions. I also like how it doesn ’ t ride up or shift around when I ’ m coming out of the blocks or hitting top speed. Super breathable and durable — easily one of the best compression shirts I ’ ve used for sprinting.
