The pockets do seem high on the jacket, but are still nice to have and deep- you could easily fit your phone and a small wallet in one pocket. I like the fit of this jacket. I am typically in between a medium and large. I would consider sizing down to a medium for a smaller fit( since it is oversized and cropped). I paired it with a white tank and black nike leggings to complete the look. It is cute, comfortable, and trendy!

It ’s amazing for gym workouts/running AND I ’ ve worn it over scrubs to work for a fashionable twist. The length of this jacket is perfect to keep me cozy during my warmup without restricting any movement at the hips( IYKYK), and it ’s breathable enough to throw over my sweaty top for my drive home. For reference, I ’ m 5 ’ 4 ” with a shorter torso and it sits ~3 ” above my crotch. But honestly my favorite part is the pockets: they ’ re deep, they ’ re roomy, and they ’ re sewn at a steep angle so my belongings aren ’ t constantly sliding out when I lay down or lean over. The fabric isn ’ t perfect for me, as movements can be a bit loud( think noisy rain jacket) when I ’ m trying to examine a sleeping patient or steal a cookie from the nurse ’s station, but that also makes me think it ’ ll be pretty water resistant. I( luckily) haven ’ t had any rain recently to test that feature out. Overall, I ’ m really happy with this multipurpose jacket and I ’ m really excited to get some good use out of it.

The fabric seems very durable and( fingers crossed) has n't stained. It does run big, but I liked the look so I stuck with my normal size. Keeps me warm in the 30s easily with just a normal shirt and a sweater. With real layers I have been able to walk approx 30 minutes round trip in the low 20s and strong winds. It ’s very warm and also gives you that psychological warmth boost of a fat, cozy puffer. The length is just right if you need a big outermost layer but don ’ t want a full parka length. I am normally between S and M for most things and a S easily fits me even with a chunky sweater. The two internal mesh pockets are clutch.

I was scrambling last minute to find a coat for our November trip to Grand Canyon, Zion, and Moab with lows at night in the 12- 27' F range and but also keep my not too warm during hikes between 30- 50' F. This coat was great. I had strategic layers including the Tri Thermal Threads Tunic from Prana 2020 at night. I hate being cold, and was pleased at the performance of this jacket. I even regretted not wearing it one morning on one hike. Back home in Indiana, I 'll keep wearing this until it feels more wintery. It is lightweight, truly stretchy, and breaks the wind.

So far I have only used this jacket for spring( alpine) skiing, at which it has been amazing! With temperatures in the low to mid 40s at the top this jacket, along with OR Trailbreaker pants and Gripper gloves, was warm enough, with just enough wind protection for riding the lifts and skiing fast, but breathable enough to prevent me from get sweaty and catching a chill. With temps below that I threw on an ultra- light softshell and was plenty warm.( Note that 1. I run warm when working hard and 2. I wear a hydration pack while skiing, without which it is possible my back would 've been chilly sitting on the lift) And it fits( size S, I am 5' 6 '' 145lbs) perfectly and looks great even just around town. So far one of my favorite items by OR( and I 've got quite a few of them) Looking forward to using this for snowshoeing, cool weather hiking etc.!

This thing rocks. Originally, I purchased this to do winter trail runs in, but have since used it to paddle, ice climb, mountain bike, backpack, and travel. I have found the Deviator to be one of the best if not the best light, active piece for me when it is chilly outside. The front/hood fabric has a good DWR and sheds light wind/rain well, while keeping just the right amount of heat in. I have found that it needs to be under 25F while running to keep myself from sweating, but with the other activities, I find it to be very comfortable in the 30- 45F range( when I am moving), even if it is windy. The zippers are a little fragile, BUT it is meant to be a lightweight piece. I have found that being patient with and keeping the zippers clean and waxed go a long way. I am a Medium/Large and bought a medium, which worked for me well. Overall, I love this piece. While it is not a replacement for a puffy, It retains way more heat than I expected for such a light jacket, especially when moving.

Man, this hoodie slaps. I primarily use it for days when it's cold but I need to get my miles in whether that be running trails/roads, snow shoeing or whatever else I do in the winter. The back is covered in what seems like waffle insulation which breaths super well so when I get hot, the excess heat has a place to go. It wicks sweat and keeps me feeling dry. The front has wind resistant panels that keeps warmth where it should be, and keeps wind out. It definitely fits snug in the arms so layering with a long sleeve base was a bit challenging considering how snug they are, but they are not too tight. I actually feel like the sleeves had a 1- 2 use break in time because now they seem more roomy and it's no longer a struggle to get a long sleeve skin tight layer on underneath. That's my experience, but not really a bad thing considering that putting on another layer over the deviator is that much easier. Please do not buy this piece expecting to hang out in 15 degree weather and to be toasty. This is an active layer that will absolutely keep you warm while you 're on the move. I use it for its intended use, and it produces a 5 star experience.

I absolutely love this hoodie and have ordered more in other colors. I hesitated at first due to the high cost, but this is worth it. The design keeps the wind out but lets your back and arm pit breath while running or wearing a pack. The fit is intentionally slim- fit, as the product can keep you warm that way. Paired with a base layer this keeps me warm in temperatures just below freezing while running or hiking. If it gets cold, I just throw a soft shell over this and it's perfect. Impressive 3- 1 after wearing out my North Face 3- 1 system I have wore for years. Bought this to replace it and I am happy with what my research settled upon. Love the zip out silk liner as a stand alone lite duty jacket, a nd the shell works excellent as a rain cover. This is a great system for a beginner or an expert in the field or out on the town. I am an OR employee and have used prototype versions of this jacket over the past couple years. The fabric works very well at giving both wind and light weather protection AND breathability and stretch. For running, mountain biking and as an `` up- hill jacket '' for backcountry ski touring it is amazing because it adds warmth in cool and cold temps, but breathes enough to prevent overheating so much better than traditional windshells. And it is ultralight and highly packable. Best of all worlds.( It does not replace a rain jacket though. It is water resistant, but far from waterproof.)

I bought this to try out in spring/summer in Washington and it is fantastic. It's super light weight but does a great job at blocking the wind and light rain. The fit is trim but not overly loose( I got a large with a 41 '' chest, 6', 188 lbs). It has quickly become my go to windbreaker and has replaced my Arc'teryx Squamish hoody. Definitely worth the buy!

This jacket is extremely comfortable. I 'm 5' 6 '' with broad shoulders and a more or less triangular shape( not a body builder by any stretch, though). The medium fits me perfectly with room to layer. I expect it's long enough for taller people, too. It breaths well, provides good wind protection, and a small amount of protection from precipitation. The first time I tried running in this jacket, the hood flopped annoyingly into my field of view. I have since discovered that you can just fold the brim back once or twice to tighten up the fit. This may look a little wonky, but it works beautifully, and it's the only option, since there's no drawstring adjustment on the hood. It's very nice to have hand- warmer pockets, which many wind shells omit.

This jacket is a light, packable, and comfortable. Perfect for warm weather adventures that just need a little extra layer to block the wind. It packs down into a small pouch that can be tossed in your pack or beach bag for that `` ace in the hole '' when needed. Unlike many competing brands, this jacket is made of a very soft material and does not have the crinkle feeling like you are putting on a trash bag. Also unique to this jacket compared to it's competitor's is that it has front handwarmer pockets as well as a chest pocket( most packable options do not). The pockets in my opinion bring it from just being a quick grab backup plan to an intentionally worn and functional jacket. The chest pocket is a great spot to quickly store your cell phone and the front hand pockets give you that sensation like you just put on your favorite hoodie sweatshirt. I have worn it while hiking mountains during the summer in Maine to hanging out on the beach in Costa Rica on a windy day.

I 'll admit when I picked this vest up I was a little hesitant on its warmth keeping abilities do to its light weight and fragile feel. Let's just say I was very impressed how well it works to keep me warm. This is a great little vest. I would think the full sleeve jacket version would be too warm for me on a regular basis in the spring time in the PNW so this is perfect for my needs of casual walking around and hiking in 40- 50 degree weather. I live at elevation, where weather conditions can change fast( and wind is common). I 've worn this jacket in a variety of conditions so far: rain/snow mix at 40 degrees,< sub- freezing temps and sunny, dark and 32 degrees. It's kept me warm without overheating, blocked the wind, and kept me dry during light/moderate precipitation. It's lightweight and packs up small, and is my new fav running item! It feels like it might run just a tad bit small in my opinion, so if you want a thicker layer under it, I might suggest sizing up.

I winter hike a lot in the white mountains of New Hampshire and I love this layer! It's perfect for ascents over my 300 weight wool shirt. I rarely sweat in it or need more than those 2 layers. If I do sweat it evaporates very quickly. It's very thin and lightweight however I barely need an additional layer in higher elevations. I have worn this in temps ranging from 10- 30 degrees F. It's amazing. I love the windbreaker aspect of it bc it either surprise snows or you brush up against trees while hiking and do n't get wet. You stay so warm with the fleece lining. Still ca n't believe how thin it is.

I 've had this piece out for a couple of runs now, and I really like it. It's quite warm- I was a bit too warm today in 2°C sunny weather- but it sheds heat well, and I was glad to have the warmth when the sky clouded over. This will be a jacket that I break out at 0C or below, personally, but I run hot. Lots of pockets, which are nice. Very soft and comfortable; flattering fit without being restrictive. Fit true to size for me( 5' 9 '' 160lb.) Only things I would change: it would be great if there was a drawcord at the hem, both to snug it up in colder/windy conditions and to stop the contents of the pockets from bouncing as much; and I find the wrists are n't stretchy enough to pull over a watch without a bit of effort.

Was looking for a high- visibility running jacket similar to the Patagonia Houdini Air( wind resistance+ breathability). I have both the regular Houdini( size L) and Houdini Air( M). Keeping this in M. FIT: I 'm 5' 1, 150 lbs, 34DD, round belly. With a Smartwool 250 baselayer or a thin long- sleeved cotton t, fit is close to the body, but not tight( Houdinis run much slimmer); pretty forgiving of my belly:) Perfect length for me, falling around mid- hip; Houdinis are longer, falling below my butt. FEEL/FUNCTION: I 've worn this for multiple runs( incl. light rain, strong wind). This feels somewhere in- between the Houdinis in terms of wind- blocking and breathability. V. light rain beaded on the surface of the jacket, but left a mark when smushed into the fabric. Material is a matte, slightly stretchy, more fabric- y( vs. plastic- y) material- like a slightly thicker/heavier Air. Hood fits over thick pony- tail securely when fully zipped, and stays in strong wind. Doubles as a running and casual jacket better than the Houdinis due to a more forgiving fit around the mid- section( for looser- fitting street clothes), shorter length( more flattering for my short stature), and zippered side pockets. Packs down small enough for an upcoming 2. 5 week trip to Europe( 24L bag). COLOR: Azalea appears neon coral in the pictures, which is what originally attracted me. Unfortunately, it actually is not neon at all, and is more like a salmon pink that leans more pink than orange. It is slightly see- through. LOVE the green( Grove) colorway- something about the color+ matte fabric texture+ matching zippers makes it look SO smooth and rich and clean. I purchased this hoodie for sun protection on a recent 9- day backpacking trip. I bought the light grey colour because I thought it could double as bug protection, since the mosquitoes were horrendous. I really liked how feather- light it was, it dried fast and the hood was great when the bugs were fierce. Furthermore, all the bug/blood/sweat stains cleaned up nicely after the trip and it looks good as new! As for durability and wind- proofness, I will bring it on my next two canoe trips this July and report back:)

Quite happy with this version of the Astroman! Still the same great sun protection and durability but the material seems lighter/faster drying somehow. Not sure how they managed that without sacrificing durability but so far it's held up beautifully! I 'm a sweaty hiker and it's pretty amazing how little sweat this shows and how fast it dries. The small fit fine, but I prefer a looser fit for layering and breathability:) And because this is a sun shirt, looser fit is best for the fabric to keep out sun rays, anyways. The ONLY thing I would change about this: please move the pocket to the chest or somewhere more useful. It's on the right hip and goes backwards which is strange and not natural at all, I really dislike it. I 'd prefer it be on the chest( like the men's version) or even still on the hip but a zippered drop pocket( like the Freewheel Hoodie).

I ’ ve owned 2 other puffers( Patagonia and Rab). The Helium combined my favorite aspects of both jackets into one and improved on some other aspects. Only thing I can ’ t attest to is the jackets durability. I ’ ve had my Patagonia puffer for nearly 10 years, hoping this one lasts that or more! Pros:- lightweight but very warm( tested in the 20 ’s and 30F so far, expecting to see how it fairs in the negatives soon)- hand pockets are lined and warm- hood is a must have for long bouts in cold weather IMO- phone pocket on the chest fits a new pro max IPhone with a case on it- large internal open pockets, probably won ’ t use much but nice additional feature- the hood and shoulders have a water repellant material Con: My only negative is the sizing, I ’ m 6 ’ 200lbs and usually wear an XL for jackets. A large would have fit more athletically with room for another layer underneath. I live in a place it can get to- 50 or colder so having space to layer is wicked helpful, but an XL is a tough too big.

very happy with this downie. granted, I would n't try my luck in a Minnesota winter with this and a tee shirt, but for simple, functional northwest cold, this jacket is perfect. the fit is great, roominess enough but not too much, and the sizing is dead on( I 'm 5' 10 '' and 180, bought a large). good coat for the casual wearer and will last well on hikes, but the more serious outdoorsman may prefer a bit more durability.

This jacket served me well for 10 years of steady use every winter/fall and I finally replaced it. The quality is superb, the new Pertex Shield on the shoulders/arms gives it a much more durable feel. It has a premium feel in the hand and is a nice blend of weight/durability. Fits great with layers underneath, but also works well as a mid- layer under a shell. I 'm a fan of the new color options too. In summary, this is a durable, lightweight, packable and versatile jacket that does its job in the back- country but transitions seamlessly to the front- country. Highly recommended.

I like the cut of OR jackets. I am 6 ’ 1 ” 235. The Helium Down does not disappoint regarding warmth. It has that soft down feeling with added structural integrity where one might carry a pack. The gusseting in the arm allow for a full range of motion without much rise. I have long arms and can still draw out without the jacket tightening too much in the back. If for some reason I found myself in dire need of more warmth I could wear it underneath a jacket or shell because it could compress enough to almost be a base layer and not sacrifice its loft. At which point I am certain to roast.

Love that this uses a fairly high fill power down( 800+), making it warm and space/weight efficient. I have higher fill power items like MH ghost whisperer UL( 1000 FP), but most UL garments use fragile fabrics and do n't have any weather protection, so they 're really limited to cold, dry weather. The Helium Down Jacket has weather resistance in key areas due to the Pertex Diamond Fuse panels, which makes it more versatile. It wo n't be a great outer layer if you 're expecting heavy rain, but I wear it by itself in a light mist or under a shell if heavy rain is expected. The Pertex panels are a little crinkly, but not as loud as some reviews suggest. I found the sizing to be accurate. This is quickly becoming a staple of my wardrobe from fall through spring. I bought this for a trip to Paris, France and Tromso, Norway. I also bought the men's version for my son. I wore it as an outer layer in Paris( highs were low 50s). It rained a bit, and I was happy with the waterproof material. In Tromso, I wore it as a mid- layer under a thermal suit. We were in the Arctic Circle in freezing temperatures to see the Northern Lights. It compressed well and was not bulky to pack. You can also use it as a pillow( it can fold within itself). The jacket is lightweight and is thin. It's not a bulky, puffy jacket. If you 're looking for a slightly heavier jacket, then the next weight up is the Lätt( X- Lätt is this lighter one). Although I got it to travel, I still wear it on the `` cold '' days in Florida because it is so cozy. I 've washed it a few times with no issues. It's European sizing, so consider the next size up.

[ The construction and material are really good- matte color as promised, does n't seem to wet out, and feels durable so far. Seam tape is a bit flashy- I would have probably preferred black, matte seam tape as well ideally. No DWR is a huge positive( both in terms of chemical use, and in terms of maintenance since no need to reapply). I 'd love to see the outer material in high performance footwear for the same benefits and performance. The only issue for me is that even the small fit is a bit baggy on its own- perhaps when layering in cold weather the fit will work better. While this jacket is n't marketed as packable, it packs well into a reasonable size for its construction.

[ I like to hike in the rain. For the past 25 years I 've lived on the Pacific Northwest coast and had plenty of opportunity to do so. I can say with certainty there is no other breathable rain jacket that will keep you as dry as one made with Columbia's Outdry. All other jackets suffer from the same problem. Eventually the outer fabric will wet out and water will wick in through the hood and cuffs leaving you wet and uncomfortable. Not so with Outdry. This stuff is amazing. I also like the impermeable look, taped outside seams and all. It makes a statement you are serious about the time you spend outdoors and it delivers. Although the jacket runs large, Columbia's sizing tool did put me into the right size for my frame.

[ Live in the PNW and have gone through a handful of rain jackets from cheap to expensive and new until worn out. This is my first with a solid barrier versus various coatings( probably toxix PFAS). Can not say this jacket doesn ’ t have them, but it seems much more robust and the slighly soft inside is a big improvement over the sticky plastic laters of past jackets. Time will tell. But so far excellent performance, good fit and seems like it will last a bit longer than average.

i use the Helium Rain Jacket in addition to a 700 fill goosedown esp. when i ride out into wilderness. while it will not protect against sheer downpours, it will if you 're under a tree! plus, in conjunction with the puffer i stay super warm and dry while packing small and light. imperative on a horse!
