Though I read that some thought the snarl's blade was too thick and not sharp, I liked the thickness and thought that the blade was very sharp. I was concerned before I got the knife that without a small guard extending out in front of your middle finger like the Brous Silent Stalker that there might be a chance that your middle finger might come in contact with the blade, but after feeling how the blade is locked into your fingers I no longer concerned about that. When my son got this for Christmas he thought is was very cool, my son is 33 and can handle a knife. A nice EDC to carry in your day pack or bug- out bag. Thanks.- Michael Dixon

Purchased this for use camping. Used primarily to split cut wood into kindling sticks for camp fire. It was solid, lightweight and held its edge beautifully. For such a small and very inexpensive hand axe it proved itself to be a great tool. With a sturdy canvas cover for the axe head and proper care I do n't see why this product will need to be replaced for years. Coghlan's Pack Axe is a terrific addition to my camping equipment and would recommend it for a variety of uses.

Well thought out survival design. I typically do n't care for serrations; but on this particular knife they only use up a very small portion of a very large cutting surface. There's still ample regular edge for fine cutting, and the small serrated section for tough, problematic materials; so that was well designed. And of course there's also the sawback feature along the spine, and the hammer pommel. A finger guard was a necessity, and the abbreviated hook at the pommel end helps generate torque when chopping while helping prevent the knife from flying out of the hand while doing so. Very versatile knife; if you found yourself out in the sticks for any considerable length of time, you could still accomplish a great deal with this tool at your disposal.
