[ I go to the YMCA pool and met a nice couple that each had OR hats. I inquired about their hats. I liked what I heard so I purchased one for me and my husband. I love this hat I because it fits well, protects me from the sun and it is waterproof. I wear it when doing water exercise and when riding bike. I also purchased the Sombriolet sun hat which has a wider brim, vents and a chord to tighten to my head. I use both and I am very pleased because of the functionality and quality. PS I still use my baseball cap and visors.

[ I bought 2 originally and honestly am in the process of buying 4 similar hats as I 've had a very difficult time finding a well fitting hat that can hold up to the rigor of normal wear and tear. I wear one for work where my hat has a mountain ridge line of sweat going across it. It has n't warped and the elastic bands still fit snug to my head without the usual looseness that happens after hats get wet or are worn too much in activities that have excessive movements involved. It's also held up after being doused in rain storms. I do n't collect hats or consider them fashion statements and use them for their intended function of providing some shade from the sun and also doubling as a sweat band. The fit is also great.

After much research and checking out many types of hats, my son purchased the same( but older version) 15+ years ago to wear hike on a High Adventure Scout Outing to Philmount. It was waterproof with an SPF of 50 and very light. Snaps on the side came in handy as well as the adjustable size. Now- years later, when I reached out to the company- OR- and asked them about the SPF( I could n't remember that!) because I now have to protect my face from all sun. [ I was in the market for a serious summer sun hat instead of the cheap ones available at all of the big box stores. After much research I decided on Sunday Afternoons Ultra Adventure Hat. I received it and I 'm lovin' it! The first thing I noticed was the air I could feel circulating on the top of my bald head. Having vents on your hat are important, however, they usually allow burning sun rays to filter through. Usually I have to decide between being sunburned without a hat or hot with a hat. The Ultra Adventure hat has happily made that decision for me with its ultraviolet protection factor of 50+, including the mesh panels. No more polka dot sunburned head! Also, its so light weight you can forget you have it on. It is really the lightest hat I have owned. Its hard to believe it can do its job and be so light on your head. The downward sloping 3 ¼ ” brim shades my entire face and the cape keeps the sun off my neck, which is another great design feature. This hat gives protection to head, face, neck and ears without being obtrusive. Other features include a sunglass lock that holds your glasses in place. It works too. I have tried to shake my head to dislodge them and they stay put. Also, if taking a hat in a back pack is an issue for you, this hat folds in half at the brim and can be kept in your pocket. Without a doubt, this is the best hat on the market and worth every penny. I urge people to give this hat a try if you are shopping for the best hat out there. Since its guaranteed for life, it will probably be the last sun hat you need to buy!! You may want to buy more though as soon as everyone sees how cool it is!

This hat fits well and travels well. I can wear it with the chin strap or tuck that into the hat when I do n't need it. I have not yet worn it in the rain. I know it's not water proof( the one feature it does n't have)- I hope the water resistance is good enough for summer squalls. I wear it in my urban neighborhood as well as the lake. My kids and I love our hats for a couple of reasons. First, they are so light that we do n't feel like we are even wearing a hat that gives great sun coverage, but we are! I have a degenerative eye disease and am also quite photophobic so this hat is a godsend.
