I 've had this home plate 3 years. I bought a second one to leave in the back yard. I 've been bringing the home plate to the rec league batting cages. My primary use for them is for the players to learn spacial awareness when they approach the plate. It also helps me call balls and strikes as the pitcher. I play in a 35 and over baseball league and I started the season 0- 15, which was disappointing because last year I hit pretty well. I bought a batting tee and a net so I could practice hitting in my back yard. When I set up the tee I realized there was no home plate to place the tee on. Thankfully, Dicks was close by. Bought this item online and was excited to get it because of the price. I had read some mixed reviews before purchasing, but figured I could always take it back to the store if it did n't work out. The cage set up in about 45 minutes and seemed really stable. We also have a Heater baseball machine we use with it and it was fun to get inside and take swings which were even too fast for me. After about 2 months, we had a big storm come through and one of my fiberglass rods broke( after going back and reading the instructions I now realize I should have taken the cage down before the storm). Obviously I was upset because it 'd only been a few months, but I called the Heater customer service line and there was a girl who was extremely helpful. They sent me a replacement pole for free and I replaced the part in 5 minutes. I would definitely recommend this cage to my friends. It's worked real good since it's been up and the only time it had an issue was when I was lazy and did n't take it down when we had a storm. My son has improved a ton since we got it and I 'm very happy with the purchase.

I have to admit, I was skeptical when I saw in the instructions that we have to `` bend the poles '' into an arc. I was sure they would snap. I even called the 1800 number to question them, but they assured me, they would bend easily..... and they did. I took about 100 swings the first day, had a blast with it, and it held up well. Works nicely with the Heater pitching machine, which hooks perfectly to the cage. Do n't try to use it for a golf cage, though. I hit seven golf balls, and four of them went right through the netting.
