We went tubing down the river for 4th of July. We hit some rapids and my son flipped over and the Quest Water Proof Pouch, of course, went under water!! It had THREE iphones in the bag! I have used a lot of different shapes and sizes of the Bill's Bag over the years. The 65 is my favorite size for summer time, inflatable kayaking, or going light on the cat boat. I have had some failure with the plastic buckles in the past, mostly human error by smashing them in the frame or tail gate by accident. I was excited to use the new metal fastening system. They worked really well, except in the cold weather with cold hands. It is a little harder to fit the metal hook through the webbing. I see it as a trade off for a super secure system. The material is also super solid and dry.

[ I have been using the dry bag for my sleeping bag for a little while now and I really like it. The compression is superior to the stuff sack my North Face One Bag came with so it takes up less room in my pack. It is also water resistant so I 'm able to keep my sleeping bag dry and therefore warm and safe. I then bought a larger bag to also keep a spare base layer in so I 'm always sleeping in the driest system possible. This spring has been vey wet so it's been extremely important I keep my gear dry. I feel confident hiking without a pack liner thanks to this dry bag. One tip I recommend is folding the opening back one fold as you store your contents as the lip of the bag has a tendency to bind on what you 're putting in the bag. Once I learned that I felt I was getting the maximum benefit from the dry bag. I also can not say enough good things about how easy it is to compress. This is one of the best pieces of gear I own.

[ We just got hit pretty much back- to- back by Helene and Milton, and this made a great go- bag to evacuate from the hurricanes! It ’s very well built and easy to carry, there ’s plenty of room for evacuation essentials, and all of my stuff stayed dry! All sorts of camping and survival supplies are very popular here in hurricane country — even though I don ’ t know of a single person who actually voluntarily goes camping around here! The only thing I wish I could change about the bag is the color! I really wanted a hot pink, or at least a bright neon orange or yellow! Still, the red and yellow is considerably more visible than the basic black. I received the correct item, in good condition, in a decent amount of time. The packaging was frankly ridiculous, though! It ’s very flat and took up minimal room, even without rolling it up – so there was no reason to send it in a massive cardboard box the size of a golf bag, for goodness sakes!

I like the white interior for finding gear and the quality of the bag seems durable overall. The straps themselves aren ’ t the most comfortable when your bag gets heavier but for my portages I ’ m never wearing the pack for much more than an hour between paddles. I would personally prefer a bit of extra bulk and weight if that was the compromise to have a slightly more padded shoulder.

[ This is better and more creative than the online description. It has a semi- rigid insert to hold shape, the interior dry bag is attached with loop-&- hook( Velcro), and there are a couple of ways to secure it on the deck of your kayak. Because some powerboat drivers have not paid close attention, I do prefer bright colors when crossing a lakes. And, of course, bright colors are easier for bush pilots to spot. I do wish it came in a bright color similar to a safety vest.

Used on a self support kayak trip on the middle fork of salmon in Idaho. Ran it on the front deck but mounted so the access end was toward the bow. In reverse the angle makes it easy to read a waterproof map in the bungees and did not interfere with strokes. Great for extra jacket, lunch, and small dry box.
