We have a pair of these in the rocket tubes for Northeast striper fishing. They are on Ugly Stik 6. 5' Tiger Elites. The reel is strong, big crank, the level winder is strong enough for 40# plus stripers and its one less thing to worry about when you are hooked up with a big bass. Plenty of drag and they hold a lot of braid( we use 30 pound Spiderwire). Just make sure you wash them well, they are not saltwater sealed as good as others. Not a lot of bearings but smooth and tough.

To be clear, I fish exclusively freshwater. I will jig( sharp- n- short twitch- like hook sets repeated on a fairly loose drag setting on my reel- to prevent snags) this minnow with a tiny 1/32oz jighead on the 2 ” model- so it fall through the water slowly. When I do this, the lure is worth every penny. I bought this product over six months ago and I am only on my second minnow! This lure and technique is incredibly effective! Get it and start twitching it off the bottom of you body of water. It ALSO works in muddy water. Which blew my mind. I am so happy with this lure! I do think the stock jighead is too heavy, so just swap it for 1/32 or 1/24. Only go 1/16 for letting the current drift the lure.

I launched it from a local dock on a nearby lake and took my two kids out on what was a choppy windy day on the lake. The stability and handling of the kayak was superb considering I had my two most precious cargo on the deck of the kayak. The lake was extraordinarily choppy with 3' waves, but the kayak was stable and I was able to navigate using some previous skill. It remained a safe and fun voyage although short lived due to the roughness of the lake. The kayak did not disappoint and was beautiful to en- devour. Have used the canoe(s) to fish the upper- James for many years. Wanted something I could throw onto my shoulders to carry, or load onto my SUV individually( when my youngest was 6). We eventually were caught in a hydraulic and the canoe was destroyed, but I bought a replacement a week later. Have done solo river camping trips, but I use a 16 footer with a 2nd person. The seat- backs are a must since I am 6' 5 '', and now my oldest is 275 so the canoe can handle 500+ lbs. Yes the bottom is flat, but we run class 2's, plus drag it over many rocks in the riffles.

I purchased an Old Town Saranac 146 for lake fishing with my daughter. It was a perfect canoe for the two of us, with plenty of room for gear and refreshments. I added a small removable outrigger where I mounted a small electric trolling motor to help hold our position in the lake on windy days. When I fish alone, I use the third seat as my station to keep the canoe flat. I added a comfortable removable swivel seat at that center station for those days when I fish alone. The canoe is light enough for me to single handedly lift up on my SUV roof rack for trips away from home. All in all, this is an excellent vessel, good quality and well made to which I look forward to many years of use.

The saranac 146 is a nice size boat for 2 people and hunting gear. After getting home with it, I found the front cap to be loose from several rivets that had failed. I fixed it by installing bolts and nuts... just wanted it to be acknowledged. The adjustable back rest are really great and useful and the seats are comfortable. The 146 is light enough to be handled with ease by one person.

My husband and I purchased this after experiencing a tandem kayak for the first time while on a cruise. At first I thought it would be difficult to paddle as a team but it was the most fun we 've had in awhile! The Perception Rambler has a bit of weight to it but between the two of us we can easily carry it to the water. The weight also lends itself to stability both getting into the kayak as well as during turbulence on the water. Overall construction and performance aside, it's beautiful!
