Gives them extra hip and leg protection+ integrated cup, so they don ’ t have too many layers( much more comfortable and easier to run in). The size guide seemed to be a little off. I work in PW on equipment, most familiar with Riddell, and we measured as a large, but he's definitely a medium. We tried both sizes and returned the L after trying thicker pads etc. The helmets come with thicker cheek and top pads. This model does not come with an inflatable insert, but they are available. The snaps are a little cumbersome( esp v the Riddell ratchets) but also nice that all 4 points can be removed/loosened in a flash/on the field. Overall, happy so far, and my son loves having something different than the rest. Older brother may be a little jealous as he bought a Riddell Speedflex for HS and is now coveting the slightly lighter weight( perception?) F7 v2.
