After some use, this new Made in the USA gerber blade performs well. I used it while camping and it did great for al, the tasks I asked of it. It carved sticks, created kindling and fuzz sticks for a fire, sparked a ferro rod, cut rope, and sliced up our meat for supper. The sheath is well thought out and allows for multiple carry options. The handle fit my hand well and was very grippy in all conditions. I ordered a fine edge from an Internet site, and received a serrated in the box. Gerber's customer service was awesome, and quickly replaced it with the fine edge version that was supposed to be in the box.

Back in my Active Duty days, I carried a Gerber Mark2 in my ruck. So Brand Loyalty is key here, I 'm not a full on Gerber Fanboy, but their designs and innovations speak to this former Grunt, and now retired but still running Precision Rifle matches. My EDC was the Gerber LST( light and SS for corrosion concerns). My current EDC is the Gerber Swagger. I sprung for this StongArm because I found the Prodigy and LMF and Infantry knives/sheaths a bit on the heavy side. Enter 2015 and the StongArm.... What can I say that has not been said. Great for BOB knife, SHTF, Zombie Apocalypse and plain old GTFO/ Get Home bag. I 'm no longer wearing a plate carrier so a simple FLC with MOLLE will see this knife. My Maxpedition bags all have MOLLE so this GTFO/SHTF knife mounts with amazing flexibility. And for my 2017 Taco truck the BG Ultimate Pro will reside in the cubby. This StrongArm will always reside in my GTFO gear, though. I do have an axe for the truck so I 'm not concerned about chopping, but I 'm super pleased to know from the YouTube reviews, that these knives can hold their own. I ’ ll be honest, I first bought this knife because it looked cool and was on sale at a crazy price. I have to say it blew away my expectations. It ’s light, handy, and the grip of the knife is very comfortable, even with the slim minimalist scales. I love the blade profile, and the knife is the perfect length as something between a pocket folder and a full- blown hunting/survival knife. I like the sheath, but I think the universal clip is a bit finicky, and doesn ’ t grip the belt well. I think a utiliclip might have been a better choice. But overall, love it, and if they make it in a different color( orange, perhaps?) I might even buy a second one!

Sorry to hear other do n't like it, but I lost my first one and am on the site to order another. The thin blade is great for my applications, I do carry a pen knife for small/precise uses and another for self defence( also a SOG). I did n't like the lock that kept it from accidently opening so I removed it with pliars. I consider adjusting the screws normal maintenance so the guy that complained it was too stiff is on him in my opintion. After a couple years of use you WILL have to tighten the screws on MOST knives, but once I had mine adjusted to preferance I have n't had to change it in a long time. I also do not like the thumb tabs as they wear a spot on my jeans so I also removed those, I might think about just grinding them down a bit on my new knife.

I 've had my eye on this set for a while, and finally picked it up a few weeks ago. Very happy with the quality and build of the knives. Carrying case is also very nice. I 'm a tiny bit disappointed with the cutting board as it's pretty small and thin/flimsy, but realizing it's intended to be used out in the field or at the campsite, I completely understand why they kept it small and lightweight. It would definitely work for some quick small work if needed, but I 'm intending to use these knives mostly at home so I 'm not concerned. Highly recommended set of knives!

It carved the brisket up just perfect and smooth. I have since used these for just about every BBQ out door cooking event I have gone to.
