I got this knife about 2 months ago and it's great. Razor sharp out of the box and it's super durable. It's got this secure feeling when you hold it. The locking mechanism is great too. It's a frame lock and is really easy to open and close.

I originally bought this knife at the base PX for training thinking it would be a cheap disposable. This has by far been the best knife purchase I could 've made. This knife got me through field training, serves me daily in the office, and even provided crucial help during a car accident by breaking a window and cutting through a seatbelt. The Salute Mini is somewhat of a misnomer for this knife. It is a very well built, well balanced, mid- sized lockback. It has an excellent blade profile for piercing as well as slicing. Dual, bronze pivot washers are rare at this price point. Nothing was really skimped on with superb knife except maybe the bead blast finish as opposed to satin polish. I ca n't comment on the black version other than my personal preference for silver blades. You 'd be hard pressed to find better quality and value than the Salute `` Mini ''. It's a no B. S., awesome EDC.

I bought this knife to fillet panfish with, I used it multiple times during this past winter to fillet dozens of crappies and other pannies. I then brought the knife with me to Missouri for a goose hunt this spring. The knife removes the breasts from the bone with ease. Bought one as a present for my father. After using it a few times, I needed one for myself. Cleaned mainly walleye with it and a few perch so far and it does a great job. I was very impressed with the overall package as a whole. 4 blades, 2 lithium batteries, charger and case. The case is super nice and very well thought out, everything has a really nice snug fit. Highly recommend this product. I have other Bubba blades and just like those knives this one did not disappoint!

Converted electric knife
I am 40 and always used straight blades. I got this to make things easier when catching lots of pan fish with my son. We got 6 walleye and sauger the other day and tried this out! Cuts amazing, and if it ’s possible is almost to sharp. The blades made quick work no issues. Battery has plenty of power, oversized handle fits great for even smaller hands, and cut off great filets. very minimal waste of meat even with this being my first time filtering with electric. I think Gerber decides to reward our loyalties ever few years when it comes out with a little GEM like this. The Zilch is a wonderful design, it's inexpensive and simple but it works. The detent works, centering is perfect, lock up is solid, no blade play, sturdy pocket clip, smooth opening and the flat ground drop point blade is awesome. No expensive handle materials or blade steel at this price point but I love carrying it all the same. I got the Red one but will probably get more in the different colors just because. I think the main comparison/competition to the Zilch would be the Dozier and the 112 Slim...... so if you like that style of knife but prefer a liner lock then maybe the Zilch is for you.

I wish the Zilch had been around when I was going through knifes. Very solid little knife for the money with full liner. May not be premium material, but for the price beautifully executed. I find the Zilch design both more aesthetic and functional than other knifes in its price range. I do n't know how it would hold up under the use I give a knife, but at its price it would be a tool I 'd use and replace when I broke or lost it. And I broke and lost a lot of knives that cost more. Gerber might just have the best in its class here.
