Stew
Great knife, super sharp, perfect for hunting. A day after it was delivered, I used it to field dress an early season doe by myself in the setting sun. Holds an edge well and the orange makes it easy to see. My one issue is that the blade has small stylistic divots, which take more effort to sanitize. Otherwise, perfect knife, I absolutely recommend to anyone who needs a great all around gutting/skinning knife.

After some use, this new Made in the USA gerber blade performs well. I used it while camping and it did great for al, the tasks I asked of it. It carved sticks, created kindling and fuzz sticks for a fire, sparked a ferro rod, cut rope, and sliced up our meat for supper. The sheath is well thought out and allows for multiple carry options. The handle fit my hand well and was very grippy in all conditions. I ordered a fine edge from an Internet site, and received a serrated in the box. Gerber's customer service was awesome, and quickly replaced it with the fine edge version that was supposed to be in the box.

A great knife, held up well for months and can keep a edge. I would recommend it to anyone with a hunger for a great knife.

As soon as I opened the box I was impressed with the fit and finish of the materials. It feels sturdy. The details are well designed, like how the sheath snaps onto the handle for a secure fit. Thanks to Gerber for letting quality speak for itself. I returned another knife to upgrade to this one.

Back in my Active Duty days, I carried a Gerber Mark2 in my ruck. So Brand Loyalty is key here, I 'm not a full on Gerber Fanboy, but their designs and innovations speak to this former Grunt, and now retired but still running Precision Rifle matches. My EDC was the Gerber LST( light and SS for corrosion concerns). My current EDC is the Gerber Swagger. I sprung for this StongArm because I found the Prodigy and LMF and Infantry knives/sheaths a bit on the heavy side. Enter 2015 and the StongArm.... What can I say that has not been said. Great for BOB knife, SHTF, Zombie Apocalypse and plain old GTFO/ Get Home bag. I 'm no longer wearing a plate carrier so a simple FLC with MOLLE will see this knife. My Maxpedition bags all have MOLLE so this GTFO/SHTF knife mounts with amazing flexibility. And for my 2017 Taco truck the BG Ultimate Pro will reside in the cubby. This StrongArm will always reside in my GTFO gear, though. I do have an axe for the truck so I 'm not concerned about chopping, but I 'm super pleased to know from the YouTube reviews, that these knives can hold their own. Thanks for a great design in the USA Made StrongArm... I 'll be dead before this knife dies.... LOL

I love this knife its a really good price. and really good quality for the price would buy again and love the color if you are looking for a good starter good price knife this is it
5
I think Gerber decides to reward our loyalties ever few years when it comes out with a little GEM like this. The Zilch is a wonderful design, it's inexpensive and simple but it works. The detent works, centering is perfect, lock up is solid, no blade play, sturdy pocket clip, smooth opening and the flat ground drop point blade is awesome. No expensive handle materials or blade steel at this price point but I love carrying it all the same. I got the Red one but will probably get more in the different colors just because. I think the main comparison/competition to the Zilch would be the Dozier and the 112 Slim...... so if you like that style of knife but prefer a liner lock then maybe the Zilch is for you.
5
I wish the Zilch had been around when I was going through knifes. Very solid little knife for the money with full liner. May not be premium material, but for the price beautifully executed. I find the Zilch design both more aesthetic and functional than other knifes in its price range. I do n't know how it would hold up under the use I give a knife, but at its price it would be a tool I 'd use and replace when I broke or lost it. And I broke and lost a lot of knives that cost more. Gerber might just have the best in its class here.

5
SGMHendo
I ’ ll be honest, I first bought this knife because it looked cool and was on sale at a crazy price. I have to say it blew away my expectations. It ’s light, handy, and the grip of the knife is very comfortable, even with the slim minimalist scales. I love the blade profile, and the knife is the perfect length as something between a pocket folder and a full- blown hunting/survival knife. I like the sheath, but I think the universal clip is a bit finicky, and doesn ’ t grip the belt well. I think a utiliclip might have been a better choice. But overall, love it, and if they make it in a different color( orange, perhaps?) I might even buy a second one!

Had the knife about a month now. Amazing so far all around with durability and blade retention. I 'll be buying friends some soon. Only `` fault '' would be the hook up point for the sheath. Not a fan of that one. Had to lock tite it 2 weeks after the wife came in. Decided to unscrew its self.

Found this fixed blade at a really good discount, so I bought it for myself. Great sturdy knife very sharp blade steel. It's a bit larger and thicker than the Ether FX which I also have. When selecting a straight edge knife, consider the blade material, length, and design. High-quality stainless steel blades offer durability and resistance to corrosion, while the blade length can affect precision and control. Additionally, ergonomic handles enhance comfort during use, making it easier to handle tasks effectively.
Straight edge knives are versatile tools commonly used for various tasks such as slicing, cutting, and filleting. They are ideal for outdoor activities like camping and fishing, as well as for culinary purposes in the kitchen. Their design allows for clean, precise cuts, making them suitable for both professional and recreational use.
Choosing the right straight edge knife depends on your intended use and personal preferences. Consider factors such as the type of tasks you'll be performing, the blade size that suits your grip, and whether you prefer a fixed or folding design. It's also helpful to think about the weight and balance of the knife for optimal handling.
Straight edge knife blades are typically made from materials like stainless steel, carbon steel, or high-carbon stainless steel. Stainless steel is favored for its corrosion resistance, while carbon steel is known for its sharpness and edge retention. High-carbon stainless steel combines the benefits of both, offering durability and ease of maintenance.
Yes, there are various styles of straight edge knives, including fixed blade and folding knives. Fixed blade knives offer strength and stability, making them suitable for heavy-duty tasks, while folding knives provide portability and convenience for everyday carry. Additionally, blade shapes and handle designs can vary, influencing their performance and comfort.
Maintaining a straight edge knife involves regular cleaning, sharpening, and proper storage. It's important to clean the blade after each use to prevent corrosion and maintain its sharpness. Regularly honing the edge will ensure optimal performance, and storing the knife in a protective sheath or case can help prevent damage.
