Last summer I watched a video on Youtube of a guy killing smallies with a `` Whopper Plopper '' so I decided to give one a try. I bought the 90 perch and 90 pac- man. First afternoon out with these lures I caught 10 bass. That was my best day ever on this water. Two were 3 lbs plus; all were respectable sizes.( See picture) Just purchased three more: Bluegill, Frog, and 28 Bluegill. Gon na buy the T1000 and Chub( Yoda) next. At a full ounce, and with it's cylindrical shape and One Knocker rattle system... This product casts farther than just about any topwater lure on the market... It also walks the dog as well if not better than the original Spook... It is very simple to start up and has a decently wide zig- zag pattern on a snap retrieve... HOWEVER, The Chug'n Spook was designed to have all the above properties like the Original Zara Spook with the added feature of being a spitting bait as well... Sadly it fails as a chugger... The mouth- cup is deep and appears as though it would throw alot of water... However it does not and I believe this is due to the width to depth ratio of the mouth- cup... That being said I do believe the deep- cupped mouth does however help improve the walking action and ease of use of this bait... The hooks and components are stout... The finish is as amazing as usual... and the overall make up of the bait feels solid and looks great... This is a great topwater lure for bass and other species of freshwater predator fish... As well as light saltwater duty for Reds, Snook, or Small Tarpon... Overall I love this lure... But mostly because of it's size and ability to walk... That being said I would definitely recommend it as an alternative to the Super Spook and other topwater baits... However if I want a walking bait that spits I will just use rod tip and retrieve techniques to walk another more traditional pencil shaped popper.

Use on heavy rod fast action 7ft- 7' 6 with braid minimum 50lbs. I use a frog weighted 5/0 1/8oz screw lock. These things work like no other I 've tried every freaking brand that makes them and zoom out preform all of them. You 'll go through a bunch until you figure out how to make them last but it's worth it with these guys. You can throw this in open water, over pads, pond scum you name it bass will destroy it guaranteed!

I 've been using jitterbugs and hulapoppers all my life. They work so well that I wear them out. A black jitterbug after dusk is a guaranteed bass catcher. One thing I 've learned: remove the forward barbs. It unscrews. Bass hit the tail of the lure or swallow it whole. All the forward barb does is cause bleeding( mine). Save the forward barb incase the rear one breaks.
