I really wanted a helmet with MIPS, and liked the look and comfort of this helmet( sleeker than the original Isode), but simply could n't make it fit. The straps are sewn at a fixed point where they meet under the ear, rather than having an adjustable clip as most other helmets do. When the chin clip was adjusted to the correct length, the front strap came down an inch in front of my ears, and the `` Y joint '' was at my jaw rather than under my ears. The strap system pulls through the back, so all Giro needed to do was add a clip under the ear on the right side. The straps are softer than on cheaper models, adding to the comfort factor. If only it could be made to fit.

[ As is typical of Bell helmets, this is a really good brain crate for road biking. It's light, fits and breathes well, even on the hottest of days, while being fully adjustable to fit with or without a skull cap. About the only thing that it falls short on is the straps are shorter than I 'd like, such that I only have about an inch of strap beyond the buckle and would prefer to see another 1- 2 inches for better adjustability. This seems to be Bell's new norm, after many years where their straps tended to be too long.

I repeatedly hiked out of ice crags and alpine environments not realizing I ’ m wearing my helmet until I knocked it on the roof of my car while getting in. The best helmet is the one you don ’ t know you ’ re wearing. I previously had an old petzl hard shell helmet and while comfortable, you knew you were wearing a helmet. We ’ ll see how this holds up long term, but after most of an ice climbing season, it ’s still pristine.

I 've used this solely for outdoor rock climbing so far. It's been amazing. The helmet is extremely breathable. It manages to stay on your head while your shifting it around, due to the highly adjustable fit. Numerous people have used it, and its been well liked due the the adjustability. I have used it in cold and rainy weather, and it fits seamlessly into my Mammut Eiger Extreme shell. Overall a great helmet for getting into climbing.

I 've purchased many helmets for climbing/scrambling, and this is by far my favorite. It is lightweight enough that I barely notice it on my head or attached to my pack, it's extremely comfortable, and it fits over a hat if I want to wear one. I also like the low- fuss adjustments of the soft nylon straps in the back, which other helmets that I 've tried often make out of hard plastic, which can be uncomfortable. It fits snug, and though I( thankfully) have n't had to test its performance in a fall/during rockfall, I have no doubt it will do its job. I was a little worried about the durability of the exposed foam, but after carrying it through a heavy hailstorm and generally banging it around in the back of the car or on whatever summit I take it off on, I ca n't spot a single dent.

I have oddly sensitive ears and get pain from standard ear pads on most helmets, but the mod5 has ear cups with a hollow space inside that fit perfectly. First, I really liked this helmet from a comfort and fit perspective. It kept my head dry, fit well without constricting, so no complaints there. Second, I ’ ve referred to my helmet in the past tense because on a recent ski trip( I ’ m a boarder, but my family skis, so I ’ m going with ski trip here) I caught my edge on my last run( I know, I know) and I was slammed into the slope on my back, and I whacked my head on the ground. [ I bought this a short bit ago and have n't had a chance to get on snow with yet, but did try it on. As I found out, the addition of the MIPS to the existing Maze design means that the helmet fits small. I wear a Large in the Smith Holt that I 've had for years, but the Large Maze MIPS is just tight enough to be uncomfortable. I 'll exchange it though, as the fit system was great, vents looked good and the look was perfect. More feedback... the ear covers dampened a lot of sound, more than my Holt ever did.

[ I bought this awhile ago as an upgrade from my original helmet. I liked having the MIPS extra protection but did n't want anything too fancy in the design. I rode with this helmet yesterday on the mountain and it was a warmer day, so I was glad I could take off the ear pads for better ventilation. The only drawback to that is the back of the helmet's plastic MIPS does contact the back of your neck so I used raised my neck gaiter up and it was no longer an issue. Solid helmet with great style.

This is light weight, sturdy, and even looks good. It fits perfectly into most climbing packs or hiking packs with an external carry pocket. There was some worry about the straps being a little thinner but they are sturdy and do not twist when using. I am a beginner climber but based on the other impact activities I do I would say this helmet works for all levels.
