I wore the cheapest BD helmet for years before finally choosing to upgrade. I have pretty slick hair, so I needed a helmet to stay in place. The strap system in this helmet does just that. Love this helmet- I bought it as a light ski mountaineering helmet, but I 've also used it as my main climbing helmet due to great overhead protection. The only downside I read about with this helmet was the headlamp straps being finicky, but they 're not too bad. Besides, it's not often you have to attach and detach your headlamp in a day anyway!

This helmet is so comfortable and light I forget I have it on. I repeatedly hiked out of ice crags and alpine environments not realizing I ’ m wearing my helmet until I knocked it on the roof of my car while getting in. The best helmet is the one you don ’ t know you ’ re wearing. I previously had an old petzl hard shell helmet and while comfortable, you knew you were wearing a helmet. We ’ ll see how this holds up long term, but after most of an ice climbing season, it ’s still pristine.

I 've used this solely for outdoor rock climbing so far. It's been amazing. The helmet is extremely breathable. It manages to stay on your head while your shifting it around, due to the highly adjustable fit. Numerous people have used it, and its been well liked due the the adjustability. I have used it in cold and rainy weather, and it fits seamlessly into my Mammut Eiger Extreme shell. Overall a great helmet for getting into climbing.

I 've purchased many helmets for climbing/scrambling, and this is by far my favorite. It is lightweight enough that I barely notice it on my head or attached to my pack, it's extremely comfortable, and it fits over a hat if I want to wear one. I also like the low- fuss adjustments of the soft nylon straps in the back, which other helmets that I 've tried often make out of hard plastic, which can be uncomfortable. It fits snug, and though I( thankfully) have n't had to test its performance in a fall/during rockfall, I have no doubt it will do its job. I was a little worried about the durability of the exposed foam, but after carrying it through a heavy hailstorm and generally banging it around in the back of the car or on whatever summit I take it off on, I ca n't spot a single dent.

Provides excellent protection, especially at its price point, however it does n't breathe at all and can be uncomfortable against the forehead. The clips hold a headlamp in place very well and I have n't had a problem with anything shifting. It fits well and stays secure in everything I 've put it through.

This is light weight, sturdy, and even looks good. It fits perfectly into most climbing packs or hiking packs with an external carry pocket. There was some worry about the straps being a little thinner but they are sturdy and do not twist when using. I am a beginner climber but based on the other impact activities I do I would say this helmet works for all levels.

Super light and easy to adjust. One thing I will note is that you need to have your hair in a low bun or in braids for it to sit correctly on your head.( I 've been able to get away with french braids before.) If you have a larger forehead I 'd recommend sizing up since the inner band and chin strap is adjustable to get that full frontal lobe coverage! I throw a hat under mine during sunny climbs!

I think that this is an excellent helmet for most people. It's not only lightweight, but it's also fairly comfortable. I trust that it is durable as well since so many climbers use it and have had good experiences with it. I also think that the color is nice. Only thing is that I rarely ever wear my helmet to begin with so I may not provide the best information. I also do not like how it makes me look. I look like a bobble head when I wear this helmet.

The title says it all. I 'm not gon na lie- my main objective for a helmet purchase for my daughter was to find one in hot pink. There are plenty out there, but none of them are from brands that I trust or that carried the necessary impact certifications for caving. While we have not used it yet, it fits fine, is lightweight, and I have full confidence in its performance. My only wish is that there was a slightly higher end helmet available in this same color( like the half dome at least), but that's no fault of the Capitan. The helmet is perfectly capable, it's just not fancy schmancy and chock full of features.

Kids Captain is great! We have some very adventurous kiddos and so having a helmet that is good for both bikes and climbing is such a great design. One less thing to pack and we get more use out of it than if we had to buy one for each sport. Great adjustability range to grow, though I do wish it got a smidgen smaller. Would love to see it in more colors as well.

I 'll say the same thing about the adult helmets, but this get accolades for also being dual use as a bike helmet on the kids version. The Capitan is my pick for the best compromise for overall helmets. Plenty light enough for almost anything, but has hard- shell durability. The adjustment system works fine, although I 'd prefer a BOA style adjustment. Really a helmet that leaves nothing to complain about.
