I bought the socks to wear with trail shoes to hike the Wichita National Wildlife area in Southwest Oklahoma, and they worked out very well. It was extremely hot and humid( sweat rolling down the legs and into my shoes), but the socks prevented hotspots and blisters. I have used wool and gymn socks in prior similar conditions, and had to use Luko tape and still had hot spots, but not with these socks.

[ For a few years now the only socks I run in are Smartwool. Other similar brands pinch my toes together too tight but Smartwool does n't so I wo n't even look elsewhere. In previous winters I run with targeted cushion mid crew run socks. I did n't even know this cold weather sock existed until last week when I ordered it. I did n't expect it to actually make a difference but it totally DID! The initial cold top of my foot did n't happen. The occasional cold toes did n't happen. I swear these are n't any thicker than my other Smartwool Targeted Cushion Run socks but somehow they are warmer! My only wish is that they came mid- crew size instead of full crew since I have wide calves and these pinch a tad. I never would have bought a full crew sock if it was n't the only option, and this is probably why I never noticed the product before. In the last two days with my new socks I ran a 15k and a 5k in 40F weather. The lowest I tend to run in is 30F but I do n't look forward to that temp. With these socks I will look forward to the next cold day because I ca n't wait to find out if my feet stay warm at that temp, too.

[ These socks are special. They are warm and soft, cuddle my feet gently and most importantly, are cheerful and fun. My first pairs of snowflakes lasted several years wearing daily. I do recommend hand washing for maximum longevity. And, you may think this silly but it is totally true: it helps if the wearer drinks plenty of water so their feet don ’ t get crusty and dry.

[ I have always enjoyed the comfort of these socks and their durability is unmatched in my opinion. I have some SmartWool socks that are 15 years old or more and are still in excellent condition. I will add that I wear these socks for work, hunting, fly fishing as my primary sock with stocking foot waders, hiking and casually throughout the house almost every day of the year. Great product.
