I bought this for my daughter ’s school camping trip for the the last week of April so it was still relatively cold at night and early morning hours in the mountains of California. We love the north face brand for our outerwear so I splurged a little on getting our daughter a good quality sleeping bag and this definitely did not disappoint!

Frequently Asked Questions For Wasatch Sleeping Bags

When selecting a sleeping bag for camping, consider factors such as insulation type, temperature rating, and weight. Insulation can be either synthetic or down, each offering different benefits in terms of warmth and packability. Additionally, the temperature rating will help ensure you stay comfortable based on the climate conditions you'll encounter.

Choosing the right size sleeping bag is crucial for comfort and warmth. Look for bags that fit your height and allow for some movement, as a snug fit can restrict warmth. Many sleeping bags come in different lengths and widths, so be sure to check the specifications to find one that suits your body type.

Sleeping bags are typically made from a variety of materials, including nylon, polyester, and cotton. The outer shell is often water-resistant to protect against moisture, while the lining can enhance comfort. Insulation materials, such as synthetic fibers or down, also play a significant role in the bag's warmth and weight.

Temperature ratings are essential for selecting a sleeping bag suitable for different seasons. For summer camping, look for bags rated for warmer temperatures, while three-season bags are versatile for spring and fall. Winter bags should have a lower temperature rating to keep you warm in colder conditions, ensuring a comfortable night's sleep.

To ensure your sleeping bag lasts for multiple seasons, proper care and maintenance are key. Store it uncompressed in a cool, dry place to maintain its insulation properties, and avoid exposing it to excessive moisture. Regularly check for wear and tear, and follow any specific care instructions to prolong its lifespan.

Mummy-style sleeping bags offer several benefits, including a snug fit that helps retain body heat, making them ideal for colder conditions. Their tapered design reduces weight and bulk, making them easier to pack and carry. Additionally, many mummy bags come with hoods and draft collars to further enhance warmth and comfort during chilly nights.
