Im a fishing guide in Charleston SC. I only use these floats when fishing structures for sheepshead. The sensitivity the floats have a amazing. I use a 20lb fluorocarbon leader under the float with 1 to 2# 3 split shots about 8inches above a number 2/0 hook. The slide float allows me to fish shallow or deep. When my bait drags a rock the float will sit on its side. When it drops off a rock the float sits upright. The float dosent have a lot of resistance so when sheep bite its very noticeable. Highly recommend.

Weighted fishing floats are buoyant devices used to keep bait suspended at a specific depth in the water. They are designed with added weight to help them stay upright and stable, allowing anglers to detect bites more easily. By adjusting the weight and position of the float, fishermen can target different species and depths effectively.
Weighted fishing floats are typically made from materials such as balsa wood, plastic, or foam, each offering different benefits. Balsa wood floats are known for their sensitivity and lightweight properties, while plastic floats tend to be more durable and resistant to wear. The choice of material can affect the float's buoyancy, visibility, and overall performance.
Choosing the right weighted fishing float depends on factors such as the type of fishing you plan to do, the water conditions, and the species you are targeting. Consider the float's size, weight, and shape, as these attributes can influence how it performs in different environments. Additionally, think about whether you need a float that is more visible or one that can handle rough water.
Yes, weighted fishing floats can be used in both freshwater and saltwater fishing, but it's important to select floats that are suitable for the specific environment. Saltwater floats may be designed with materials that resist corrosion, while freshwater floats might focus more on buoyancy and sensitivity. Always check the specifications to ensure they meet your fishing conditions.
Weighted fishing floats offer several advantages over unweighted floats, including improved stability and the ability to cast further. The added weight helps the float maintain its position in currents and windy conditions, making it easier to detect bites. Additionally, they allow for better depth control, which is crucial for targeting fish that are at specific levels in the water column.
Yes, there are various styles of weighted fishing floats, each designed for specific fishing techniques and conditions. Some floats are designed for still water, while others are made for moving water or surf fishing. The shape and design can affect how the float behaves in the water, influencing factors like visibility, drag, and how well it signals a bite.
