I left it outside one day to cool it down and then threw in some ice packs and food and it kept the food extremely cold for a long time. I 've had a lot of cheap coolers over the years, mostly with and without wheels as well as some crappy backpack coolers. This bagpack is fantastic for keeping your items cold/hot. Everything on the pack is high quality. It's very spacious and when you 're carrying the pack, the weight feels evenly distributed. I took it on an 8 mile hike and the only issue I had was the straps chaffed against my skin. I hike in tank tops so that was a bit of an issue for the bare skin in contact with the straps. The heavier the bag is, the more you 'll feel the chaffing. I have other bags that do n't do this. Other than this minor detail, the bag is fantastic.

[ I feel like most of the cooler options out there are the big tote bags with the long zipper that are super awkward to carry. This tote is the perfect size as it has the square opening, is n't too big so you pack it too full and it's super heavy.
