[ I love hats and after losing my Columbia wide- brim hat in Zurich( I blame the chocolate) back in 2023, I was relieved to see a replacement a couple weeks ago. I 've had this hat for about 5 years now, and it's my go- to for when my face will need sun protection but I still want to look cute... farmers market, outdoor events, travelling, etc. The medium brown color goes with everything, the leather band gives it a polished look, the shape has just enough structure but still feels casual. I live in a hot climate( Central Texas) so a cool and breathable hat is essential. With our weather, this hat gets 3 seasons of use. Do n't be deterred by the `` paper '' content... the braid feels very soft and it's also durable. In all these years, I 've only gotten one small pull in the weave but the pattern is so forgiving it blends in. I get so many compliments on this hat... it's my favorite.

I go on birdwatching trips, and on a bird- watching Safari, we were advised to be sure the hat we wore would n't obstruct the view of others in the vehicle, so I chose this hat. It was perfect for the trip, and it turned out to provide outstanding protection from the sun in general. As a bonus, it was a bug deterrent! I have three of these hats. I keep one in the car and one in my backpack so I always have it on hand. I am a redhead and these do the best job of protecting my neck, scalp, and face of any hat I have owned. I also love the folding brim so it can go in a pocket. It stays on well in windy conditions if you snap it under your chin. I wish it came in more colors. Fun ones. I would love orange or teal or fuchsia.

This hat is very comfortable and offers excellent sun protection. It is a smaller hat as in the headpiece is not deep like a trucker hat. I got a medium and it fits perfectly. Having a less deep headpiece makes it possible to wear sunglasses or over the ear earphones comfortably. The sun cape is attachable by to buttons. The adjustable chin strap allows you to keep sun protection even in windy conditions.

I love boonie hats, but the Sport Hat can keep out all angles of sunlight. It is feathery light on your head, but it is still rugged. This is my third one as others finally wore out or got damaged. This hat will stay in place in a strong wind if you cinch down the chin strap. I wear it kayaking on big expanses of water with no wind break. The L/XL hat fit me well. I hope that Sunday Afternoons keeps selling these hats forever.
