The lining will 99% block the wind from the top of your ears up. But since the lining stops there, When I rolled the sides down to cover my ears, it allowed wind( and cold) to hit my ears. I love my new Sunny Synergy Pro bike! I had a similar model but this one does so much more while you ride which is helpful to keep track if your RPM's, mileage and heart rate! [ Assembly- went together in leas than an hour once I got it all unboxed. Make sure that you assemble this where it is going to be used. It weighs quite a bit. This is great for stability, but not very mobile. Function- very sturdy and easy to adjust for size and resistance. There is a noticable difference in each step from 1 to 8. I also like the fact that the arm and legs can( and should) be worked separately. You can pinpoint the proper resistance level for each. Extras- The screen is functional and gives you the basics, but not much more and that is fine for me. I know what I want to do for my work out and dont need to pay for a tour guide. Quality- As I said this is a very sturdy machine and even though I have only been using for about a month I have no doubt that it will last.
