My wife has had this helmet for several years. She wore it pretty regularly until this past summer. Last year she decided that helmets were unnecessary and did not really provide much protection and that their effectiveness was overrated. I never wore a helmet so it was no concern to me. Some friends i occasionally ride with wanted me to take aride with them but informed me i needed a helmet so i took my fifes old fixture. So, comfort, air circulation and price were the three most important factors in my choice. When you 're 80 years old, style does n't really matter. While i did not own a helmet my wife has a helmet that she Periodically wears, mostly when biking with her parents, who wear helmets. I am pretty sure it is the first helmet ever made. I actually think it is older than she is, possibly a hand me down from a much older sibling who likely never wore it. Finally i wore it on the ride, WOW It had an awesome fit and i was happy with the number of vents and how light it was. Darn it is so well vented light and comfortable you dont even know you have it on. Yesterday we decided to take an all day ride and i said that I would wear my new helmet so of course my wife wore hers. Halfway through she asked …no begged me to try my helmet. On several occasions she mentioned how nice it was compared to her ancient helmet. I really wanted a helmet with MIPS, and liked the look and comfort of this helmet( sleeker than the original Isode), but simply could n't make it fit. The straps are sewn at a fixed point where they meet under the ear, rather than having an adjustable clip as most other helmets do. When the chin clip was adjusted to the correct length, the front strap came down an inch in front of my ears, and the `` Y joint '' was at my jaw rather than under my ears. The strap system pulls through the back, so all Giro needed to do was add a clip under the ear on the right side. The straps are softer than on cheaper models, adding to the comfort factor. If only it could be made to fit.

This is both my first Giro brand helmet and my first MIPS technology helmet. I like how Giro has the side straps set already so that's two less buckles to adjust and loosen on their own. Coming from Bell helmets I had to get used to adjusting the straps by pulling to center them each wear no biggie for better comfort. Speaking of comfort the dial to tighten in the back is much better than Bell helmets. The MIPS technology allows the helmet to move slightly while staying right to your head to reduce injury in a collision. As a nurse I naturally worry about my husband ’s and my own well being. I have never been big on helmets as they usually give me a headache so when we ride we wear ballcaps to protect against the sun. My husband likes to ride alone and of course i worry about him while he is riding by himself. I always make sure he is wearing his hat and a bright shirt and tell him to be careful. Sometimes i add he should be extra cautious since he doesn ’ t have a helmet which is ironic since i dont have one either. Recently when he was headed out for a ride i gave him the normal sendoff talk and he said he had something he wanted to show me and pulled out a yellow lazer codex helmet. I was really surprised and a bit excited as i had secretly wished he would wear a helmet. Afterwards he told me the helmet was really nice and it made him feel safe. I tried it on and took a short ride in the neighborhood and did not get a headache and it was light and airy. I am not a fan of the yellow but will get myself a helmet now as well.

While i previously did not own a helmet my wife had a helmet that she would Periodically wear. Mostly she wore it when biking with her parents, who wear helmets. It was white and very plain with few vents was likely the first helmet ever made. I actually think it is older than she is, probably a hand me down a from a much older sibling who likely never wore it. Not only is it heavy, it has a white foam interior and an impossible to adjust buckle land looks pretty dated. When she wears it she does not have much to say good or bad. When we would ride just the two of us she almost never wears it. Occasionally when I would ride alone she would remind me that i was more than welcomed to wear her helmet. i did end up wearing it for some additional protection last fall when there were wet leaves. It was actually nice peace of mind however it was of poor fit and I was terrified that was the way all helmets fit and did not pursue getting one of my own. This past weekend i was going out on a long ride and my wife handed it too me saying “ it will make me feel better ”. So of course i wore it. I forgot it was on and did not duck low enough under a tree branch and hit it hard enough that it broke. when I returned home from a ride i told her i broke her helmet and suggested i would get her a new one. I found the kineticore in white at public lands and bought it. I tried it on and was impressed with how it fit. My wife couldn ’ t believe how much better it was than the old. it is so well vented light and comfortable you she forgets she has it on. My wife is now asking when i will get my own. Trace seems to me is upgraded Overtake which I 've had for some years. Please do n't take my word but similarities are there. Very satisfied with Overtake except ventilation. Smith got it fixed with Trace even with glasses vents to eliminate fogging. That works well but I 've not had a chance to test it on humid summer day. Downfall is that the helmet's front sits lower over glasses to make ventilation work but I 've experienced bumping between helmet and glasses during rougher gravel ride. MTB ride was the same story but I can live with that. It is not a MTB helmet. Fits great just like Overtake. Love new improved straps. Highly recommend this lid.

Neither my husband or I previously wore a helmet. My husband does ride quite regularly and often by himself and i have suggested he buy himself a helmet. Earlier this summer I noticed a new silver halyconhelmet in the garage with the bike stuff. Not gon na lie it looked pretty good. Since it was not mine it had to be my husband ’s although he never mentioned getting it. Since he usually rides by himself it was easy to envision him wearing it on rides. The helmet fit my normal female head and with some minor strap adjustments i was able to get a great fit. I snugged up the chin strap and we set off. During the ride It actually was very very light and comfortable very well vented and did not feel hot. It felt safe and i am sure i was riding harder than usual as my husband told me to slow down at least once. When we were done as i was taking it off my husband asked what I thought. I told him i liked it and wanted my own. He said that would be great and that he felt a little bit naked without it on.. Hope to never test it but it honestly feels very safe and substantial

My husband is probably the safest most conscientious biker i know. He follows the rules of the road wears lots of bright clothes and is never fast or dangerous.
