I bought this rod and reel combo about two weeks ago, as an upgrade to my PENN Fierce IV Surf Combos for my shark surf fishing setup. Caught 3 big bat rays and a 5 ft long leopard shark on the combo with ease. Reel is insanely powerful, and by far one of the best reels you can get out there in the “ middle to expensive ” price range for PENN spinning reels. Rod is a little stiff, but it performs very well for the price of the combo and it held up well against the might of the leopard shark and bat rays with relative ease.

Hard to beat this rod for fluke. Can fish 4 oz buck tails in the ml. I paired this a Shimano Spheros SW 4, 000 and 15# PowerPro Super Slick. It is a beast rod for fluke and sea bass.
