Excellent for winter to cut the wind and retain heat. Had multiple deer come within 30 yds and jacket noise did not alert them. Used as a top layer with layering( and heated vest, socks, and gloves all on lowest setting) during a 12( F) degree morning, never got cold and didn ’ t feel the wind. It does not have pockets, which helps with retaining heat and one less thing to leak down the road, but I use a small pack to carry in. I do suggest breaking it in a bit. This jacket is more than I could have hoped for. I operate a snowplow at a ski resort at night during storms clearing parking lots. When I get out of the tractor into what is frequently a howling blizzard, this keeps me warm, sealed and protected. It's loose enough that I can wear layers underneath if it's really cold and the whole thing is lined with nylon so there is no binding at all. The hood and zipper come up to just the right place on my chin to be functional without hindering. And when it's wet snow or rain, it runs right off and I stay dry. Amazingly comfortable. There is nothing about this jacket that I do n't like. Bravo Carhartt!

All this makes this jacket perfect for anyone that runs or jogs. There are 2 zipper pockets on the outside and inside pockets as well. The hood has drawstrings so you ’ re able to tighten it if needed. I got the size XL but I would say the jacket fits more like a large. So runs about a size smaller. It's in my backpack for every hike, and my carryon whenever I travel. This is one of the more convenient running items I have ever purchased and I love it. I also like the fit, as it sits right on the waist area. I usually prefer for these to go slightly below the waist, but this one is nice as is. If you are running and get too warm the ability to change it to a vest is so convenient.
