I ordered these in a medium and a small due to being unsure of what size. I can honestly fit both. I ’ m 140 pounds, athletic build, 5 ’ 4 ”- 5 ’ 5 ” tall. The smalls for more like a size 4- 6, tighter athletic look. Medium size fits with a lot looser fit, especially in the thigh& waste area( slide right up with no stretching needed in the waste). The medium would be for a person maybe size 6- 8. If I ’ m going for a loose flowy look or if you have thicker legs/thighs, I would say medium. I prefer the more fitted athletic look so smalls are more comfortable feeling for a more athletic outfit look. The small has to stretch in the waste a little for me to put on and is tighter around my thighs than the medium. Size small or athletic look( go running in or could wear at the gym or ball field) and medium for casual look( put with a solid free fly shirt for a casual outing). If this confuses more than helps I ’ ll post photos if needed
