I bought is jacket to replace my old Gore- Tex Foray that started to delaminate after 7 years of use. Lets see how well this AscentShell Dry hold up over the years. So far this is a great 3- in- 1 jacket but I 'm really disappointed that it lacks the TorsoFlo Venting all the other Foray versions have. TorsoFlo Venting, or at least some basic armpit vents, really makes a difference when you need to vent some heat build up or want to use the shell as a rain jacket year round. I like that it comes as a 3- in- 1. This is easier to put on and take off than the Foray and Shadow combo this jacket is replacing. Being able to combine the shell and insulation layer when it gets cold is much more convenient than dealing with 2 separate jackets. I like that it is longer than the other Foray versions The longer Parka style provides better rain and snow protection than the shorter Jacket style. The over all look and color make this great to wear in any setting like work, camping, shopping, or anywhere else. I really like the Ranger Green color over the Hops Green of my Foray that this is replacing. I hope they make a version 2 with TorsoFlo Venting and a stuff sack for the insulation layer.

I love how this jacket combo is all I really need for winter in New England and how it can be used for the majority of the year. This is a good one which goes to mid thigh on me( 5' 2 '') with the rounded swoop in the back that looks a bit stylish. [ This jacket is a great all around windbreaker. The fit is oversized and can fit over a lot of layers+ allows a full range of motion. The snaps and zipper are solid. Arms are about average length/what you ’ d expect. The color is a great vibrant green. As to this jacket ’s waterproof- ness I would probably suggest something billed as an actual rain jacket. I think this one could stand up to a drizzle to light rain for a set amount of time, but wouldn ’ t be what I grabbed in anything more. I absolutely love this jacket! It ’s true to size and fits appropriately snug but not tight. It has two zippers along the teeth, which is super helpful if you ’ re crouching down or generally stretching the jacket in some fashion,( you can move that bottom zipper up to open the jacket a bit, so it ’s not as taut at the bottom). The hood and fur are removable but I haven ’ t taken either off. The jacket is quite warm and comfy, even without the heat on! I highly recommend. I am a small or medium in all my other coats, jackets and tops. This parka in olive is exactly like the pictures in my opinion. It is heavy, good quality and beautiful. I ordered a size medium based upon the size chart and it is VERY fitted in the hips. I am an athletic build- 150lbs with lots of muscle, however I have wider hips than my waist( hourglass) for sure and this REALLY hugs my hips. Fits well in the upper body. Quite possibly large would have worked better, especially since the battery sits on the hips( tightest portion for me). The jacket is beautiful and works well, however the sizing seems to run at least 1- 1. 5 sizes smaller than average. Can not wear bulky layers with this size for sure. Would love at least an exchange option for size issues on open box items.

Absolutely love this jacket. It's so soft and light weight. For reference I am 173 lbs and I ordered the XL to have extra room. If you do n't want a lot of extra room large would be perfect for someone my size.

[ Got a medium and its still pretty large- im usually a size 8- 10 and am 5 ’ 2 ”, so knew it would be a little long. it is quite roomy but not so big that i needed to return it. Id try sizing down even more but its not worth the effort. I do love how light it is.

Bought the parka for my wife and she was thrilled! She is hard to please, but this did the trick. The parka is long enough to cover her hips( she has SI joint pain, so keeping them warm is critical) and was super comfy. The parka was perfect for taking the dogs out for their walk in the winter. It may be a bit much for more strenuous activities given the volume.

I live in southeastern Massachusetts, and it's been unusually cold this winter. I researched different brands of insulated parka coats for men and came to the conclusion the North Face Nuptse Parka is supreme. I love how immediately effective it is in blocking all of the frigid cold even with less layering underneath. On my workdays in the office, I wear a business suit year- round, and this parka takes the place of my usual black wool overcoat. It is light and versatile enough even for warmer days. I 've been a fan of North Face since 1989 when I purchased my first Gortex down parka from them. I adore their quality workmanship, and the zippers last forever!
