Flexibility for mobility is necessary for comfortable traveling conditions. The better I feel the farther I can go.

[ I have used these ski bibs about 6 times since purchase and have been very satisfied. My main reason was my old pants would n't keep me dry on a stormy day. The very first day they were put to a test with a mix of rain and snow. They passed with flying colors and now I am staying dry even in challenging weather. The fit is very loose.

[ These are form fitting while being flexible. All my bibs in the past have had trash can legs and these give you enough room to layer based on temp while still being slim enough to make you feel fast and not like you have parachutes on your legs.

Shamal
I really like the fit and contour of these bibs. I was looking for a burly 3L pant that is roomy enough for proper cold weather layering.( I ski at Whitefish, MT. often, so.....). These check that box nicely without being too baggy. For reference, I 'm 6'- 3 '', 210 lbs., 35 '' waist, 34 '' inseam in most pants. Purchased size Large. Lengthwise, these ride just right with my ski boots on.( Even though the size chart says 32. 9 inseam). The 3 layer `` AdvancedSkin Dry+ '' fabric is bomber, weatherproof and resembles 3L Gore Tex. The upper bib section is very stretchy with a 16 '' zipper fly. Nice quality 1. 5 '' wide suspenders contribute to comfort also. All in all, a sturdy, well- built ski bib with clean lines.>>>> Jeff

Great range of motion across the knee area and crotch, which is nice considering I 'm 6ft- 4in tall.

These are the best non Gore- Tex pants ive ever had, which is a lot. Im 6' 1 '' and the L fits well, just a little baggy, but not dragging or interfering with my bindings. The only thing i dont love is the chest velcro, a zipper would be appropriate. No lace clip on the powder cuff, no back clasp hook. Love these pants. P

Really enjoyed this outer shell jacket for snowboarding in Utah. I used a different jacket underneath for insulation and warmth, worked well without it being uncomfortable. I ’ m 6 ’ 2 ” and the length and size fit just right, the sleeves aren ’ t short or pulled up when raising my arms. The neatest thing about this, and if you have the Firefall pants/bib, is that there ’s a hook inside the jacket near your tailbone. That hook attaches to a loop that ’s affixed to the pants/bib so that the jacket doesn ’ t rise up if you should fall and down the slope while skiing/snowboarding.

These bibs were fantastic for my snowboarding trip in Breckenridge. These bibs were extra flexible and did n't make me feel as constrained as other bibs have. They fit well and were very comfortable for riding from first chair to last. We ended up having a pretty wide range of temperatures from 40 to- 10. So far, so good! Living right outside the Middlesex Fells, the weather can be incredibly variable year round, and this jacket handles the rain and wind well. I 've found this jacket has managed to keep me warm when it's cold out, but also not overheat me in the event the sun is out because of how light the jacket is. The vents also help a lot with that, too. Definitely recommend!

The jacket is super lightweight which allows for comfortable wearing and has plenty of room to layer up in. It ’s not bulky or in proportional, all of the measurements are equal and allow for comfortable wearing with and without layers underneath.

I 'm a long time snow professional. I bought these after an extensive search for bibs that are goretex, flexible upper, hinge seat to answer the call of nature- in nature, smart low bulk design. These fit the bill better than any AND they come in short, regular and tall inseam. I 'm in love.

After being pleased with my MH shell, I decided to try these bibs and so glad I did. So far they 've been worn skiing and snowmobiling in various conditions, from 28 degrees and snowing 2 '' an hour, pouring rain, and cold dry single digit weather. The waterproofing is superior, and blocks the wind well enough. The fabric is comfortable and does n't feel constricting. I 'm 5'2 '', about 130 lbs, with pretty beefy legs and butt. The medium short is definitely roomy, which is what I wanted to allow for layering and freedom of movement. I LOVE that there are options for length. This should be standard in the industry! The leg pockets fit a phone perfectly and have stayed waterproof. The chest pockets are more for sunglasses, chapstick etc, and not a phone, but you should n't have your phone right next to your beacon anyways. The zipper works well enough for peeing. It's a pretty easy process. Overall, this bib is just a great no- nonsense product that does exactly what you need it to do: Keep you dry and comfortable.

Paloma
These bibs are amazing. You may think you would lose style/fit/quality with bibs, but you will be very pleasantly surprised and eager to hit the slopes and apres activities in your new bibs. There is waist/hip cinching system that you will love! They are extremely comfortable on, will not inhibit any moves and will add value to your day!! I 'm 5'6 '', 127 lbs and have them in small/ short. The length is perfect, but if you are over 5'6 '' and have long legs, go with the regular length.

Finding pants in any outdoor brand is a challenge because sizing is still skewed towards more petite women. I am 5'6, 140 lb, hourglass shaped with a 32D bust, 27 '' waist and 39 '' hips and athletically built thighs. I ordered a medium tall and the 34 '' inseam is actually perfect and just hits the floor without shoes on. Pros: Built- in cinch belt around waist- this is a genius add! High front pocket allows to sit comfortably over the chest while keeping the girls secured and the straps flat over the traps Overall really comfortable pant Cons: Drop seat zipper is only on* one* side. It does not have the dual zippers I was expecting. This feature was why I ultimately went with Mountain Hardwear and I think an added zipper would make this pant 5 stars. Needs more room in the thigh/outer hip area to accommodate for layering and different body types No cinch or snap around the inner boot liner

I have 5 days of skiing on the jacket in weather from sunny/warm to heavy snow. The fabric breathability is perfect for sidecountry/in- bounds skiing, but a touch heavy if you 're looking for a backcountry jacket. Great windproofing while still breathing. I am 5'11, 165lbs, with broad shoulders. I bought the medium and it can be worn with a puffy underneath comfortably. Not baggy, but still free range of movement. A touch more room on the shoulders would have suited me a bit better. There are a ton of useful pockets, no shortage. Zippers are easy to access, pit zips are a bit cumbersome however. Velcro on the cuffs is easy to adjust with different gloves.

When selecting backcountry ski clothing, consider features that enhance comfort and performance in varying conditions. Look for materials that offer breathability and moisture-wicking properties to keep you dry during intense activities. Insulation is important for warmth, while waterproof and windproof capabilities help protect against the elements. Additionally, features like adjustable hoods, ventilation zippers, and pockets for storage can enhance functionality on the slopes.
To choose the right size for backcountry ski clothing, start by consulting the sizing charts provided by the manufacturer, as sizes can vary between brands. Measure your chest, waist, and inseam to find the best fit based on your body dimensions. Consider the type of layering you plan to wear underneath; you may want a slightly looser fit for added comfort and mobility. Additionally, pay attention to the specific features of the clothing, such as adjustable cuffs and hems, which can help customize the fit for your needs.
Backcountry ski clothing is typically made from a variety of materials designed to provide warmth, breathability, and protection from the elements. Common materials include synthetic fabrics that offer moisture-wicking properties, as well as insulation materials like down or synthetic fills for added warmth. Waterproof and windproof membranes are often incorporated to shield against snow and wind, while stretch fabrics enhance mobility during skiing activities. Many garments also feature durable outer layers to withstand rugged conditions.
Yes, there are specific styles of backcountry ski clothing designed to accommodate various weather conditions. For colder temperatures, insulated jackets and pants provide warmth while maintaining mobility. In wet or snowy conditions, waterproof and breathable outer layers help keep you dry and comfortable. Additionally, lightweight and moisture-wicking materials are ideal for milder weather, allowing for better ventilation and temperature regulation during physical activity.
Insulation plays a crucial role in the performance of backcountry ski clothing by providing warmth and comfort in cold conditions. It helps to retain body heat while allowing moisture to escape, which is essential during high-energy activities like skiing. The type and amount of insulation can affect breathability and mobility, ensuring that skiers can move freely without overheating. Choosing the right insulation for specific weather conditions can enhance overall enjoyment and performance on the slopes.
Wearing layered clothing for backcountry skiing offers several advantages. The base layer helps wick moisture away from the skin, keeping you dry and comfortable during physical activity. The mid-layer provides insulation to retain body heat, while the outer layer protects against wind, snow, and moisture. This system allows for easy adjustments to regulate temperature and adapt to changing weather conditions, enhancing overall performance and enjoyment on the slopes.
To determine the best fit for backcountry ski pants, consider your body measurements, including waist and inseam, as well as the type of layering you plan to wear underneath. Look for pants that offer a comfortable range of motion, especially in the knees and hips, to accommodate skiing movements. Additionally, check for features like adjustable waistbands and articulated designs that enhance fit and mobility. Finally, consider the intended use, as some styles may prioritize insulation while others focus on breathability and waterproofing.
When selecting backcountry ski jackets, consider factors such as insulation, breathability, and waterproofing. Look for materials that provide warmth while allowing moisture to escape, as this will help keep you comfortable during physical activity. Additionally, features like adjustable hoods, ventilation zippers, and pockets can enhance functionality and convenience. Finally, ensure the fit allows for layering and movement, as backcountry skiing often requires a range of motion.
Breathability in backcountry ski clothing is essential for maintaining comfort during physical activity. It allows moisture from sweat to escape, helping to regulate body temperature and prevent overheating. When clothing is breathable, it enhances overall comfort by keeping the wearer dry and reducing the risk of feeling clammy or chilled. This is particularly important in dynamic environments where temperature and exertion levels can change rapidly.
Insulated backcountry ski clothing is designed to provide warmth in cold conditions, featuring materials that trap heat while still allowing for breathability. This type of clothing is ideal for colder climates or when spending extended periods in low temperatures. Non-insulated options, on the other hand, are typically lighter and more breathable, making them suitable for milder weather or for those who prefer to layer their clothing for versatility. Choosing between the two depends on the specific weather conditions and personal comfort preferences during outdoor activities.
