As a paddler and former kayak guide, I have a lot of paddle hats. Several models like this have a brim that goes down too far and makes it hard to see. This one is perfect. I love to wear this hat around town or when we ’ re out on sunny days. It ’s very comfortable, and the brim holds its shape well. I don ’ t use it when I ’ m out gardening or mowing the lawn because I prefer my other Sunday afternoon sun hat that I can throw in the washing machine if it get dirty. That ’s not to say that I couldn ’ t use this for light yardwork. It would be great with the sun protection, I just prefer to not get mine dirty. I have a smaller head, and even adult size small can be too big for me. This children's size large sun hat is great. It is light weight, quality fabric, adjustable, and I like that it has a string so if it gets windy it stays on. The brim covers enough to keep the sun off. I live in Florida. I have been looking for the perfect visor for several years after my favorite was discontinued. Most of the ones with wider brims were just too big and made me look silly. I have a very small face. And you take off in the wind like the flying nun. These visors are the perfect length for keeping the sun out of your eyes. I love the lightness; however, I ’ m not sure how they will fair in strong winds. I also wish they had more colors to choose from. I like the light gray, however, it didn ’ t allow me to tighten it enough; The light purple was easier to tighten to my needs. Another way visor would be even better is to have a terrycloth lining on the inside of the headband.

Hat is very useful. I have used for desert hiking in Arizona/utah and while hiking the 500 mile Camino Frances across Spain in late summer heat. I obtained my hat in a bit different way, it washed up on our beach. Someone on a boat is missing it greatly. I had been wearing Tiiley hats but I like this one much better. The brim is stiffer which is a great benefit out sailing on breezy days. The adjustable band allows fitting the hat perfectly. The narrower venting along the top keeps it cool while keeping the sun out. And the material holds up very well.
