I bought these in white in XL and then in black in L. I like pants loose at the waist and need a long rise. I also got the short length, which sit at my instep( 5' 4 ''). The black ones in the L fit better as to the rise and volume of the legs, but I prefer the looser waist on the XL. I wish designers would give up the hourglass myth of women's bodies: If one needs a L for the hips, one probably does not have a 32 '' waist. The drawstring makes these wearable. Both are comfortable, though, and very light. So I will probably wear the black ones out more, and keep wearing the white ones around the house. Very comfortable style and fabric. I find myself wearing these most days in the Florida warm temps. Very nicely made, as well. I marked `` runs small '' because the elastic at the waist, IMO, should be about 2 inches larger. [ First off. I cut out the liner. Although I will say I left the liner in for a time, best feeling liner I have ever tried on. That being said I got ta feel free in my shorts. Best swim shorts I ’ ve ever owned. I also ran a 22: 37 5k in them around a 7: 20 pace. No liner, no briefs, and no chafe. They also dry really fast. I ’ ve got 3 pairs. Might get a few more. I ’ m 5 ’ 8 ” 155lbs: I bought size small. I wear 30x30 jeans and chinos. Best for swimming, running, looking good without a shirt on. I love the contrast on the waste band.
