I bought these in white in XL and then in black in L. I like pants loose at the waist and need a long rise. I also got the short length, which sit at my instep( 5' 4 ''). The black ones in the L fit better as to the rise and volume of the legs, but I prefer the looser waist on the XL. I wish designers would give up the hourglass myth of women's bodies: If one needs a L for the hips, one probably does not have a 32 '' waist. The drawstring makes these wearable. Both are comfortable, though, and very light. So I will probably wear the black ones out more, and keep wearing the white ones around the house. Very comfortable style and fabric. I find myself wearing these most days in the Florida warm temps. Very nicely made, as well. I marked `` runs small '' because the elastic at the waist, IMO, should be about 2 inches larger. The only thing I don ’ t care for is it seems like there is a little too much extra fabric in the front for me so it tends to bunch up just a bit- I have to smooth the front down at times. The best way to describe the fabric is to compare it to the Athleta brand I also wear. The Athleta brand has a buttery soft feel, a bit slick, thinner feeling fabric, and I do love them. By comparison, the Calia fabric for this legging has a slightly course, thicker feel, making it a bit warmer with a more substantial feel, which I also love. And when I say “ course ”, I should clarify that it is still a very soft fabric and you won ’ t be disappointed. Both are great in their own way, and I wear either depending on what I ’ m doing.
