I worked in the yard for several hours in 80 degree heat and it kept me cool and comfortable. I could have worn it the next day as it did not retain any odor. I was n't certain how the addition of Lyocell to the Wool would affect the breathability of the fabric. I am happy to say it worked just fine! I have not yet washed it but am sure it will live up to the Smartwool standards. Nice to have a v- neck option as not all of us look good in crew neck styles. From a modesty standpoint you do have to be a bit careful when leaning over. I normally wear a medium however based on the review I ordered a small and it fits perfect.

I have the Abisko wool shirt in the long and short sleeve models. When I had a bad fall in Argentina and broke my arm, I had on the long sleeve version. The arm was badly damaged, but the shirt still looks great. I look forward to wearing it when I get my arm out of the cast. Now I can wear only the ones with short sleeves and REALLY wish they came in other colors.

[ For reference, I purchased a Medium. I ’ m 5 ’ 4 ”, 128 pounds, pear shaped, so, smaller on top, curvier on bottom. I got the black which is opaque. I wear this baselayer weight for cross country skiing when it ’s above 30 degrees or so. Smartwool varies in size for me, these are not extremely fitted like some of the 1/4 zips so go with your normal size.

[ This is a great shirt. Its light, and shows off my form well. Its also wool, so it wo n't stink. Wool has a tendency to be itchy on me, but Smartwool never has. I find I have to pay more for that but its worth it!

I live in the northeast part of the country and the climate is cold in the winter. I love my Smartwool base layers. I have had earlier versions of this base layer and I was able to get a newer version on sale( lucky me!!!). I tried it on and the material is super soft and comfortable.

This is the best mid weight zip neck base layer I ’ ve ever owned. The quality of the fabric is unmatched. I ’ ve never had a Smartwool garment that pilled. It looks good enough to wear as a shirt/sweater. The zipper is first class and the neck doesn ’ t sag. I were it as a base layer skiing all over the IS and Canada, cycling in cold weather, and under a shirt all winter to take the North Atlantic chill of fall through spring. Best of all I can wear it without worrying about the dreaded polyester stink, its stays fresh for ages.
