This is the same PFD used and strongly endorsed by a local west coast kayak shop. It was ordered on line 8- 29- 15, given an ETA 9- 4 to 9- 11, and received at rural Post Office 9- 5- 15( the free shipping on orders over$ 25. 00 was a bonus). Sizing( L/XL) is good and very adjustable. Flotation support is excellent for 215 pound male. Straps, buckles, zipper are sturdy and lock up. Design is quite comfortable with no choking or chafing over 3. 5 hour paddle. The Charcoal/Kiwi was ordered which is not only quite visible, but also smart looking for those paddlers with an interest in style. Of course life saving flotation support is the primary consideration, followed by paddling comfort. This PFD is excellent in both categories. I bought this for a 60ish mile canoe trip some 20 or so of my friends and I do every year. I 've never taken a PFD on this trip in previous years because it's typically low water. But we had gotten a boatload( see what I did there) of rain and the water was raging so I thought I should pick one up in a hurry. This was a rush buy, but it turned out to be far more comfortable than I had imagined. I hardly noticed I was wearing it even after having it on for 10+ hours a day. The pockets make it very convenient to have smaller items readily accessible on my chest. Unfortunately, on day 3 during a moderate rescue, I left the jacket on the river bank and finished the trip without it. And although this would n't be my first choice for white water, I will still buy another one because I liked it so much.

This is cut for a woman, so it fits better than others I have worn, and it was very reasonably priced. It has a thin back and is n't super bulky. 1st PFD. The Fisherman has more adjustment straps to get a snug fit and the is more comfortable than the other comparable PFDs I tried on. The rigidity of the 2 front zippered pockets is also a plus, IMO, over the other comparable PFDs because they act as trays to set gear on when making fishing setup adjustemnts. However, some of the other comparable PFDs seem to have more gear storage options/pockets than the Fisherman but comfort and adjustment was more important to me than gear storage volume. Plus, more gear in and on the PDF equals more weight which may not be a good thing in an emergency situation whilst on a lake or river.

I bought this product a year ago. I have used it with my( 2. 5 year old then and) now 3. 5 and my oldest son now 5. The are easy to take on and off. The feature of removing the pads slowly is awesome. My youngest has all the pads in and my oldest has two pass removed now and is learning to swim great. It keeps them a float quickly rising them to the surface if they jump in the water. It does n't shift on them at all when tightened appropriately and also not invasive if they are n't in the water. They do n't mind walking around with it on. I love that they can be independent in the water at this age.

We received this as a birthday gift for my son that just turned 4. Keeps his head above water but also makes him have to use his arms and legs in a swimming manner to move. This should be for kids who are ready to move away from the floats that prop them up. My daughter was nervous when first starting out- sat lower in the water, and she thought she was sinking. If you are looking for something that completely holds child up and out of the water with no attention from you, then this is not for you. However, if you are looking for something to help your child actually learn to swim on their own, there is literally nothing better- or even close!!! I have been looking for this exact product since last summer, as I used it for my 2 older children and there is nothing even close to as good to teach a child to swim on their own. They are now 16 and 14, and could swim 100% independently at 2 and 3 thanks to this product. Flotation in both front and back, unlike traditional bubbles, but without arm flotation, like the newly popular puddle jumper, which restricts arm movement to correctly `` swim '' properly. Puddle jumpers are great if you want a ton of flotation, but too much if you want to actually teach to swim. But this Swimways `` vest '' allows you to slowly and gradually reduce the amount of flotation by removing 1 pad at a time from the front or back or both. You can control if they are leaning too far forward or back by adjusting the number of pads. By removing 1 or 2 pads at a time, you can reduce the amount of flotation gradually, so your child can get used to less help and having to do more to stay afloat and learn to swim until eventually swimming on their own. Other devices go from 100% flotation to 0- where this goes 100% to 90% to 80% and so on down to an Independent Swimmer!!!!
