Much nicer than the Scotty product, and if you get the Starport HP mount instead, a much lower profile mount if you ’ re doing a non- fishing trip and don ’ t need the holder mounted. The included mount can be used in either a low profile( more hole cutting, more secure) or high profile setting. PROS:- Design- Ease of assembly- Rod retention clips( FAR superior to the comparable product sold by B* ss Pr* and C* bella ’s)- Veneer finish in a Cherrywood look- Marketer of this product is based in Wisconsin- Reasonable price/ good value CONS:- Misrepresented as “ American Cherry ”, yet it ’s made of an MDF material with a veneer that looks like Cherry- Feet on the stand were haphazardly placed, so not perfectly stable- Made in China( may explain both of the above), yet value pricing likely requires it- Styrofoam in packaging( there are more earth- friendly materials today) Durability will be determined over time. I have a Native Watercraft Slayer 13 Propel and like to troll for stripers and blues. I have 4 of these and no longer use tip- ups. I use Zebco Dock Demon rods with Abu Garcia spinning reels. Rods are fiberglass and available at Wallyworld for 10 bucks. Graphite rods do n't hold up as well as fiberglass rods.

This is for Kayak fishing but add the track to a board and your open water Garmin transducer to the arm and you have a year round sonar. Without an arm like this the standard transducer cable is too stiff to keep the transducer pointing straight down which is critical when in flasher mode.
