These gloves remind me of TNF stuff from the 80's, amazing quality and thoughtful design with high end materials.

5 Gichan
These gloves keep your hand dried very well. I have n't used under several weather yet, so I am not sure about waterproof from rain& snow yet. I used these at 10~15 degrees C, and my hands held some sweat. These gloves alone would be good between- 10~10 degree C. You would need extra thermal gears under- 10C. I felt the size runs a little large as I break in. You could do half size down if you want tight fits.

5 Debbie
I love my new gloves. Used them in the rain and they kept my hands warm and dry. Fit is perfect too.

5 Dean
I work Mountain Patrol in the San Bernardino mountains. I have used the North Face gear for a long time; it has never let me down. This is my second pair of this line, and they get the job done when you need it most.

5 Ski Gloves
So happy with my purchase. My daughter said her hands have never been warmer or dryer.

5 Active winter sports
I have a pair of these in the 3 finger claw type, they are my colder weather ski gloves. I got these for my teen kid since we go ski in colder temps( under 20F). These are nice and toasty and keep kid's hands warmer than the Scott gloves which are great for above 25F. I was able to get for the same price as Amazon so picking up at Dick's House of Sport was easy and we got to use them the next day. My pair of Hestras are going strong 5+ years later and still fine. At$ 110 the features Hestra should provide but does n't on these gloves were wrist tethers and a clip to keep the pair together( provided on their more expensive gloves) I added both myself which is easy to do. Even though they are expensive I think they will last years and years. Make sure to put the leather conditioner on the leather sections to keep them in good shape( it is sold separately).

Frequently Asked Questions For Alpine Gloves

When selecting alpine gloves, consider features such as waterproof and breathable materials to keep your hands dry and comfortable in varying weather conditions. Insulation is also important for warmth, especially during cold weather activities. Look for gloves with a good grip and dexterity, allowing for easy handling of equipment. Additionally, adjustable cuffs can help seal out snow and cold air, enhancing overall performance in alpine environments.

To determine the right size for alpine gloves, start by measuring the circumference of your hand just below the knuckles, excluding the thumb. Use a measuring tape or a piece of string to get the measurement, then compare it to the sizing chart provided by the manufacturer. Additionally, consider the length of your fingers, as some styles may fit differently based on finger length. Trying on gloves with the intended base layers can also help ensure a proper fit for comfort and dexterity.

Alpine gloves are typically made from a combination of materials designed to provide warmth and waterproofing. Commonly used materials include synthetic insulation, which helps retain heat, and waterproof membranes that prevent moisture from entering while allowing breathability. Additionally, durable outer fabrics are often treated with water-repellent finishes to enhance their performance in wet conditions. These materials work together to keep hands warm and dry during alpine activities.

Yes, there are alpine gloves specifically designed to perform well in various weather conditions. Many options feature waterproof materials to keep hands dry in wet environments, while others offer insulation for warmth in cold temperatures. Additionally, some gloves are designed with breathability in mind, allowing moisture to escape during high-intensity activities. This variety ensures that you can find gloves suited to your specific alpine adventures, whether in snow, rain, or extreme cold.

The main difference between mittens and gloves for alpine activities lies in their design and warmth. Mittens typically have a single compartment for the fingers, which helps retain heat better, making them ideal for extremely cold conditions. Gloves, on the other hand, have separate finger compartments, allowing for greater dexterity and grip, which can be beneficial for tasks that require more finger movement. Choosing between them depends on the balance of warmth and functionality needed for your specific alpine activities.

Alpine gloves are designed with materials and construction techniques that enhance grip and dexterity, making them ideal for various outdoor activities. Many feature textured palms and fingers that provide a secure hold on equipment, while flexible materials allow for natural hand movement. This combination helps users maintain control and precision, whether they are skiing, climbing, or engaging in other alpine sports. Additionally, some styles incorporate ergonomic designs that further improve fit and functionality.

To maintain the performance of alpine gloves, it is important to clean them regularly according to the manufacturer's instructions, typically using a gentle detergent and avoiding fabric softeners. After washing, allow the gloves to air dry completely, as heat can damage the materials. Additionally, applying a suitable waterproofing treatment can help restore their water resistance over time. Finally, store the gloves in a cool, dry place to prevent moisture buildup and preserve their shape.

Yes, alpine gloves can be used for a variety of activities beyond skiing or snowboarding. They are designed to provide warmth and protection in cold, snowy conditions, making them suitable for activities like snowshoeing, winter hiking, and mountaineering. Additionally, their durable materials and waterproof features can be beneficial for tasks such as ice climbing or working outdoors in winter weather. Many users appreciate their versatility for any cold-weather outdoor adventure.

When choosing alpine gloves for extreme cold conditions, consider insulation, waterproofing, and dexterity. Look for gloves that offer high-quality insulation materials to keep your hands warm while also ensuring they are waterproof to protect against moisture and snow. Additionally, consider the fit and flexibility of the gloves, as you will need to maintain dexterity for tasks like adjusting gear or handling equipment. Finally, features such as gauntlet cuffs can help keep snow out and provide extra warmth.

Alpine gloves vary in insulation and breathability to accommodate different weather conditions and activity levels. Insulation types can range from lightweight materials for warmer conditions to thicker options for extreme cold, providing warmth without excessive bulk. Breathability is also a key factor, as many gloves feature materials that allow moisture to escape, helping to keep hands dry during intense activities. This combination ensures that users can find gloves suited to their specific needs, whether for skiing, snowboarding, or mountaineering.
