The Kalmia offered great space/ volume per weight, and fit me so well! The adjustable backplate offered needed personalization for fit, and the padding protected me from hotspots without being bulky. The rotating shoulder straps made a difference; I could feel the pack moving with me, instead of against me. The Kalmia 50 is my new go to pack! While this pack offers some personalization, it is n't the pack for everyone. I highly recommend trying the pack on before purchasing, and walking around a bit with some weight added to see how she rides. Overall: well made, great weight to capacity ratio, helpful personalization through various adjustment and tension points, moves with the hiker.

Just received my brand new Stout 70 from rei. A tad disappointed they didn ’ t have the green or orange, but all in all I ’ m excited to put this to use. It ’s purpose will be to get me thru a 100 mile trek I ’ ll be doing for an autoimmune charity, and I imagine by my first impressions that it will do just fine. Had the older version of the Terra and this one is a huge upgrade. The hip pockets are clutch, and the beaver pouch on the front lets you stash wet/stinky clothes away from all your freshies inside. If you ’ re going out for a day or two, any old backpack will pretty much do. But if you ’ re going out for several days, carrying some serious supplies, are gon na be doing some real travel, this pack was the best for my money. It made a huge difference in my trip this year vs. years prior. If you ’ re hiking Everest or something, there ’s probably better packs out there, but this is worth every bit of the “ couple hundred dollars ” range.

[ The new updated Osprey Rook 65 Performs outstanding. It caries the load very well. While I used it on a winter day hike with only 25 lbs in it I feel it will comfortably carry about 35- 40 lbs. The new Rook series packs 50 and 65 liter are well worth the price they retail for. If you are a well seasoned hiker or a beginner you ca n't go wrong with the Osprey Rook. I imagine the Women's Renn will preform as well.

I did n't understand the significance of a female- specific pack until I got this one-- I had been using a 75L+ unisex/ male pack for 10+ years and it always felt just a little off. The first time putting this one on, fully loaded, for a 5 day backpacking trip, I realized what a game- changer it was. Originally I was concerned going down in size by 5L, but all the pockets and stash points make up for it. It packs much better than my previous pack and the weight is distributed better and sits on my hips more comfortably. Definitely recommend!

Just got this pack as a replacement for my very old and trusted Arial 75. Despite being a guy I got the women's as my last one was a women's and it fit me so well. I am 5' 7 '' '' and 155#. Super comfortable and easy to adjust. I have just used it so far for day backcountry skiing. It easily synched down to a small size and was narrow with no wobble for skiing in the trees. Lots of pockets, I especially like the double pockets in the lid for sorting small stuff.

[ I got this pack for longer day hikes, and specifically for an upcoming trip. Have n't used it for said trip yet, but have used it on local hikes to get a good feel for it and it checks all my boxes. It's uncomplicated( just one main compartment with some exterior storage) and I love the padded hipbelt. Also like the fact that there's compatibility for a water bladder. The side pockets stretch enough to accommodate the large nalgene, and there's a small zipper compartment at top for keys, wallet, etc.

I ’ ve taken my Gregory Women ’s Jade 24 LT Backpack on two training hikes so far as I prepare for my upcoming trip to Havasu Falls, and it ’s been exactly what I needed. The organization is one of the biggest highlights. The front pocket is perfect for storing food and snacks so I don ’ t have to dig through the main compartment during breaks. Inside the main compartment, I can comfortably fit clothes, toiletries, and a water bladder without everything feeling cramped. I also love the hip belt pockets — they ’ re ideal for quick- access essentials like lip balm, sunscreen, etc… while hiking. The only con is that my phone doesn ’ t fit. I got this backpack to prepare for my 3 month trip in the Caribbean and it ’s has been so helpful to say the least. I have an overpacking problem but all of the different compartments and pockets made it so I could fit everything I needed. The support on the backside of it helps so much with my back pain and doesn ’ t make me feel exhausted at the end of a busy travel day. Furthermore, the top bit comes off as a smaller backpack which was perfect for day trips. The only thing i would change would be the smaller buckles that attach the front pocket to the bag, they were a little weak. However, I don ’ t have any worry they will come undone when I check it at the airport. Overall, this bag has been a HUGE help!! It definitely has made my traveling much easier.

[ This Ampex 65L transcend backpack is quite impressive. It checks all high- end features like- waterproof material, little pockets for essentials is awesome. It provides really decent support for the frame on the back and the rest on the hips, rather than on upper back and shoulders. Lastly as it is 65L- it can pack everything needed for international or a multi- day hike comfortably.

This is a great backpack for the price. I am giving it 5 stars because it's everything you would want and need in a pack. The middle zipper opening is an amazing feature that allows you to get into your items without having to pull everything out from the top like a conventional pack. One downside are the hip straps. I feel they could be slightly larger for the size of pack, I had some discomfort but nothing terribly bad, likely had more to do with me being out of shape as well. I recommended this to a buddy and he has one and uses it quite often like myself.

I went backpacking in Linville Gorge, NC for three days, and honestly, my best choice was the 65L backpack. It fit what I needed and had plenty of room to spare. The support to keep my back from sweating, the elastic exterior pockets, and the included small daypack are my favorite details. I would change the side straps for the rigid mat to be a little longer, and the phone holder to be more elastic, since my S23 Ultra does n't fit. I highly recommend this backpack without a doubt.

This is my first day pack with internal frame. It makes it very comfortable to wear, balancing the weight down onto my hips( even unbelted and even wearing it on one shoulder) and the frame with mesh back keeps my back cooler even in 93 degree humid weather. The pockets are n't ideal. The top front pocket is very small( and if you put a heavy phone there it is unbalanced). The internal( water or laptop) pocket is deep- so anything small put in there is lost to posterity( beware). The water bottle pockets on the side fit a smaller water bottle easily but tougher with anything larger. I used it as a carry on( personal item) and no complaints from the flight attendants about how it fit under the seat in front of me, though the top did stick out a little and I found it to be a bit in the way of stretching my lets. It fit a ton of stuff- I had an umbrella and rain jacket, wallet, cosmetic size bag with electronic cables and earbuds, cosmetic bag with actual cosmetics, book, magazine, two journals, an airport shopping bag( small), and small cosmetic bag with meds in there. There is a helpful clip to attach your neck pillow! It also has a rain cover in a pouch at the bottom that was very useful in a downpour, if a little hard to extract and put in place on the fly.

This backpack is very big and sturdy and it can definitely hold a lot of whatever you need. I like that is has additional smaller pockets on the handles and straps to keep small things like wallets, cash, or cards dry and separate from the rest of the items you 're holding. the arm and waist straps are seemingly strong and easy to adjust to proper fit, and they hold the pack in place very securely. It's also nice looking and the easy to remove/attach waterproof cover is an additional plus.

It has buckles that can keep the backpack more compact, or unclipped, can expand to the full size. I needed a mid- size bag for a full day of multi- pitch climbing, crag hopping, and lots of hiking in between. Priorities were lightweight, supportive, wearable while climbing, and water bladder compatibility. This bag fits the bill on all of those and is built to comfortably accommodate a harness while being to easily access gear. Where it missed the mark for me was that it's built for a male body. I tried as many adjustments as much as possible but as a 5' 4 '' '' female I could n't get the right fit. I hope osprey recognizes an untapped market and creates female versions of these technical bags some day, like they do for hiking bags!

I was skeptical but this pack performed very well. I really liked the U- zip access, huge hip pockets, and the side pockets that I can grab a waterbottle from while wearing the pack. A couple of things I did n't like: those huge hip pockets left no room for a bear spray holster, there is no way for the lid to double as a separate pack for little jaunts from camp, and the hip belt was maxed tight on my 34 '' waist in the Med/LG frame choice. I did n't understand the significance of a female- specific pack until I got this one-- I had been using a 75L+ unisex/ male pack for 10+ years and it always felt just a little off. The first time putting this one on, fully loaded, for a 5 day backpacking trip, I realized what a game- changer it was. Originally I was concerned going down in size by 5L, but all the pockets and stash points make up for it. It packs much better than my previous pack and the weight is distributed better and sits on my hips more comfortably. Definitely recommend!

Just got this pack as a replacement for my very old and trusted Arial 75. Despite being a guy I got the women's as my last one was a women's and it fit me so well. I am 5' 7 '' '' and 155#. Super comfortable and easy to adjust. I have just used it so far for day backcountry skiing. It easily synched down to a small size and was narrow with no wobble for skiing in the trees. My girlfriend ordered the extended fit for me not because I 'm morbidly obese but because my shoulders are 3x the size of the normal person. 6/22: had the Sirrus 24 for years. liked it. Compression- fratured lumbar region early spring. Feared hiking days over. stubborn but realistic: Had to carry pack light and high. Wore same clothes daily, hat, pricey poles. Tied jacket around waist, saved pack space for tent, food, water, rain gear, navigation, first aid, sleeping bag n cooking gear. There was other stuff inside bag, but I forget. Was able to carry light even with food. This pack solved my weight fears: helped me keep all under weight, not stressing back. Wore a lot; usually kept inside pack. Used water bladder. Was able to muster the entire CT in 2022. I 've had this pack since 2006. It's been on many adventures with me, from backpacking in Canyonlands to training hikes in Teluride to travel through Taiwan. For several years, I used this bag for grocery shopping and going to the laundry mat, when it was often 70 pounds. It's so comfortable that even fully loaded, I can easily dance while wearing it. This pack has survived bear attacks, rain storms, deserts, baggage handlers, and having its capacity tested endlessly. After 15 years, I 've noticed the first sign of wear- a small tear in a seam. I love osprey products and unfortunately found that most of their products do not fit XS torsos. However. The EJA is the exception. It fits through the shoulders and leaves plenty of room for tightening the hip belt. It ’s like wearing a hug. I did 3 10+mile days with this pack( 48l) and it was just the right size for my and my dog ’s needs. The ONLY complaint I have is that the shoulder padding could use reinforcements. I found the material shredding my shirt and leaving friction burns on my collarbones after day 2. I ended up shoving my extra sun shirt under the straps to widen the coverage on my shoulders. I could probably wear thicker shirts for winter trips, but summertime screams for tank tops and breathable materials that just didn ’ t do enough for comfort on that long of a trip. I will be using this pack again, but definitely looking into mods for the shoulder strap padding

[ The Ariel Plus 85 backpack was a game changer for me. I 'm not a `` professional '' backpacker, so packing everything but the `` kitchen sink '' was a desire. Although I wound up not packing that too, I did manage to get everything I needed, and more, into this pack for a 3 night solo trip. An ultralight tent and a 4. 7 '' high sleeping pad were carried on the outside of the pack, while my mummy- style sleeping bag was in the sleeping bag compartment at the bottom of the bag. Other necessary items took up the rest of the space, with room to spare. Not only was there plenty of room in this bag, but it was incredibly comfortable. I 'm humpbacked, so not many backpacks are comfortable for me. With the adjustable torso feature, I was able to get a truly dialed- in fit and was able to hike without discomfort.

Osprey really outdid themselves with this one, thinking of every little detail for organization and packing this pack. Additionally, the suspension is great and carrying over 40% of my body weight, I felt the weight, but not the pack! I like my comfort and I do not like to be cold and I carry food for my dogs, while they carry the water, therefore, I need all of this space. The only detail that osprey does on all of their packs is that sleeping bag divider is not fully removable, just `` '' disconnect- able '' '' so you still have to carry the divider around with you adding weight and it does get in my way. I have never used it since it prevents me from stuffing every solitary nook and cranny of the bag. Also, when the bag is stuffed, I have never been able to successfully open and then re- close the bottom zipper anyway. Same with the side zippers Osprey has on most of its packs. HOWEVER, they surely did get it right with the front zippers on this pack! You can open the entire front and then re- close it even when fully stuffed! Wonderful!!! Also, the side pockets, unlike other Osprey models, really can be used and things added and taken out even when the pack is fully stuffed. I love the front organization pockets and keep things that I need handy like GPS and maps, etc in one and repellent and netting, or if it is a cold, snowy backpack, gloves and hat, in the other.

I adore this pack. My mom bought the Ariel 85L for me a few years ago( 2021) for my first guiding job, and it has been my companion ever since. The pockets make it easy for me to stay organized and access a variety of gear while on the trail, and the brain turns into a little day pack. The only negative on the day pack feature is that the straps secure with plastic toggles through loops rather than buckles, so they come out when you are n't wearing the pack. This pack is super durable. I have sat on it, accidently thrown it in a beaver pond, checked it at the airport, and much more, and it has n't ripped or shown much wear yet( knock on wood of course). The water bottle pockets have a holster feature, so you can access your bottles without help and fit notebooks, maps, or fuel bottles in the top part of the pocket. I am a notorious over packer, and I can always fit everything I need and still hike comfortably with this pack. If you like ultra light this might not be your pack, but if you want to hike for a long time while staying organized and comfortable this is a great pack.

[ I 'd been using my old pack for 20 years and just bought the Osprey Atmos 65. I just came back from a five day trip in the Beartooths( Montana) and I was glad to have the new pack. It definitely put the weight on my hips and was much easier on my shoulders than my old pack. The suspension system was also great, making this a more comfortable backpack. It's almost 4 pounds lighter than my previous pack as well. I 've only used it 5 days, so ca n't really comment on the long- term durability. I tried SO many packs. I have chronic neck and SI joint pain and so many packs gave me pain. This one doesn ’ t. It carries the weight so well. I know It ’s not even close to UL, but it ’s worth it. I have less pain and can carry heavier weight with this pack than I could otherwise. Highly recommend.

[ I was actually shocked at the color scheme of this pack, I thought it was all black, but it actually is black and dark green which I really, really liked so that was a pleasant surprise. There is ample storage and a plethora of straps for all the gear. Most of all, it's comfortable! I have n't been able to use it yet but have a trip in the works.

[ The osprey was exactly what I needed with the adjustments in the hip lumbar and shoulders it took a lot of pressure off of my shoulders and transferred it better to the hips and balanced it better. The quality the look everything was just top notch. I have the north face terra 55 but just seemed there wasn ’ t as many adjustments as the osprey. Now I know what all the hype is about with osprey.
