Hard to beat this rod for fluke. Can fish 4 oz buck tails in the ml. I paired this a Shimano Spheros SW 4, 000 and 15# PowerPro Super Slick. It is a beast rod for fluke and sea bass. I would have no hesitation for mid column and top water stripers and blue fish with this. Its a hard to beat Shimano as a production rod.

When selecting a bottom fishing rod, consider the rod's length, power, and action. Longer rods can provide better leverage and casting distance, while the power rating helps determine the rod's ability to handle different fish sizes. Additionally, the action affects how the rod bends and responds, which can influence your fishing technique.
Bottom fishing rods are typically made from materials like fiberglass and graphite. Fiberglass rods are known for their durability and flexibility, making them ideal for beginners. Graphite rods, on the other hand, are lighter and more sensitive, allowing for better feel and responsiveness when fishing.
Bottom fishing rods come in various types, including conventional, spinning, and jigging rods. Each type is designed for specific fishing techniques and environments. Conventional rods are often used for heavier tackle, while spinning rods are versatile and suitable for lighter setups, and jigging rods are tailored for vertical fishing methods.
The action of a bottom fishing rod refers to how much and where the rod bends when pressure is applied. A fast action rod bends near the tip, providing quick responsiveness, while a slow action rod bends throughout its length, offering more flexibility. The right action can enhance your ability to detect bites and set hooks effectively.
Rod power indicates the strength of the rod and its ability to handle different sizes of fish. A medium to heavy power rod is often recommended for bottom fishing, as it provides the necessary strength to reel in larger species. Choosing the appropriate power ensures you have the right balance between sensitivity and strength for your fishing conditions.
When looking for a bottom fishing rod, consider features such as guides, grips, and reel seats. High-quality guides reduce friction and improve casting distance, while comfortable grips enhance your control during long fishing sessions. Additionally, a sturdy reel seat ensures your reel is securely attached, which is crucial for battling larger fish.
